Indonesians Urged to Boycott Starbucks

AKARTA, July 1 (Reuters) - A leader of Indonesia's second-largest Muslim organisation has called for a boycott of Starbucks, saying that the international coffee chain's pro-gay stand risks ruining the "religious and cultured" core of the Southeast Asian nation

Anwar Abbas of Muhammadiyah, an organisation that has around 30 million members, said the government should revoke Starbucks' operating licence as the company's support for the LGBT community is "not in line" with the nation's ideology.

"If Starbucks only does business, then fine. But don't bring ideology here," Abbas told Reuters by phone on Saturday.

My worry is that because of this "leader's" comments some individual has now concocted the idea to display his God's disappointment by blowing a Starbucks to hell. Didn't someone detonate a bomb, and themselves, at the beginning of last year in Starbucks?

I hate Starbucks and that white coffee rubbish, at the airport I gave Starbucks a miss and had a white coffee, which gave me horrendous indigestion, so they are both on my shit list, but to add to that you cannot understand the workings of the Indonesian female brain, we go to Penang and for some unexplained reason my wife, bless her, buys me a Starbucks mug, I'm trying to figure out why, but I got revenge on Starbucks, I only drink tea out of it, never coffee

Western business leaders should temper their comments and keep their own personal thoughts on religion or politics out of the limelight. Trying to ingratiate one group on one country can lead to alienation of others in another.
Best to keep mum...

Indonesian boss should state that they were the personal thoughts of a deranged US CEO and not the corporate thoughts of Starbucks Indonesia.

4. They use Twitter* to broadcast their boycot.
5. They use computers with Microsoft* software.
6. They use phones with Android/Google* or iOS/Apple*
7. He probably uses a Visa* or MasterCard* debit card to make payments.

If recognizing the extension of basic human rights to the LGTB community will ruin the "religious and cultured" core of the Indonesia then it's time for the wrecking ball.
