Indonesia Second Home Programme - All Retirement Stay Permits Abolished and Existing Holders Scheduled for Expulsion in Case of Non-Compliance

Is there any age limit. Upper or lower?
He responded:
"The age starts from 18 & above for the applicant but any dependent children must be below 18 years old."
Edit to add further info:
But the more important thing is that foreigners with second home visa are not allowed to work while staying in Indonesia.

And visa index 318 (ex wni) and 317 (family) still available on the imigrasi website.

Interesting article, why they did not just add the second home visa? And made it 10 years only? So much hassle for nothing and honestly, what does Indonesia have to offer to the VIP foreigners? If they still are not allowed to work and somehow manage their own company?

Infrastructure ? Political stability? An open minded society? High education standards? Non-corrupt civil servants?

Honestly, the old white or colored fart with a fat wallet will choose other countries first!.

There is a saying in my native tongue, it translates to: “The soup is not eaten as hot as it is cooked” and that applies always to Indonesian society and laws. The usual suspects here were thriving on spreading panic on many forums etc.

The soup wil not be eaten as hot as it is served. Benar!

Curiosity speaking here, how hard is it for your distant family living abroad to extract their inheritance from an Indonesian bank? Where does unclaimed/seized money go when dead people leave it in their Indonesian bank account?
Well, waiting until the people pass away to confiscate the assets is still far away. No need to wait that long.
The history has told that some Indonesian officials like to consider the money collected from other people are the money they inherit from their ancestors.
Just remember the cases like Menara Jamsostek, Jiwasraya, ASABRI. The most extreme case is ASABRI as this is the Indonesian army welfare and pension fund. They still have a courage to embezzle it.
Other big graft cases involving other people money, Bali Bank, Century Bank. Not to mention other smaller banks in small provinces.

Have been through this fairly quickly and there is no mention of pensiun in the indonesia version and no mention of retirement in a Google translate version in English.

Thanks, that's pretty clear, sit tight, and wait until someone works out what they're doing. Very "Truss-like"

Having read all 8 pages of posts, I am now more confused than when I started. Had planned on retiring to Bali in 2020 until Covid put a spanner in the works and postponed. Was planning to make the move in early to mid 2023 using Pension Visa KITAS and along comes another big spanner. Appears to be utter confusion as to whether the Pension Visa will remain for retirees who qualify with the requirements but cannot/ will not stump up 2 billion. Having been burnt during the crisis in 1997/8 when living in JKT, am reticent in putting such a large amount into a Indo bank, not to mention the fact that the interest rates are minimal. Just hoping that sheer logic prevails and the pension visa remains.

"8. The Existing Holders of Residence Permits for Elderly People (e.g Pensioners) of International Tourists can still receive services based on the previous regulations until a further decision is issued."

Based on this it seems to me that it is only for the existing residence permit holders for elderly People, for their extensions and not for the new applications. But please this is not an immigration advice and you need to take it with a grain of salt. People might want to try and see what happen.

Indonesian way of doing things rapidly to reverse the law is just by issuing another circular letter, even-though it might sometimes does not comply with the laws. Just remember the first circular letter of second home VISA, it is only takes a few months before another circular letter were issued.

According to the Immigration Directorate General Public Relations Subcoordinator (extract from Coconuts link from earlier post by snpark), “The expat retirees cannot be put in the same category as Second Home Visa applicants,” he said, adding that expat retirees also contribute to the Indonesian economy.

We fall into the "regular foreigner" category, so I suppose, as you suggest, it will be case of just wait and see what other "circular letters' come out in the coming months. Unfortunately does not help with making plans or knowing if or when one is able to retire in Bali.

These changes are efforts to implement the immigration law change in 2021:

That law eliminates the retirement visa and adds the Rumah Kedua visa (Pasal 102, 103). Unless another high level revision is made, I think it is clear the old retirement visa is gone and new ones will not be issued. Pasal 253 says existing retirement KITAS will continue as Rumah Kedua, it does not say anything about extensions, KITAP, or if the Rumah Kedua financial requirements apply.

I've just finished reading all the posts from the start, and one thing that's still not clear is the option of buying a property in lieu of the IDR 2 billion. As I understand this, it's either one, or the other to satisfy the visa requirements.

With regards to this property purchase option, I seem to recall a previous law that defined foreign ownership to the "luxury" category. I believe that it was about IDR 2 billion minimum for a flat, and IDR 3 billion for a land type of property, and varied depending on what region the property was located. Furthermore, I think it's essentially a long term leasehold arrangement. Although I'm not clear on the monetary requirements for the luxury property, if this was the case it might appeal to those who were already planning to get a higher-end place to live and had the financial means to do that. In this case, they wouldn't have to tie up the 2 billion in a government bank, but could include that into their residence.

Has there been any clarification on this property ownership option with regards to the rumah kedua visa?
