Indonesia Crime Watch

Uber driver couldn't find my house (and the big black gate and the house number in consecutive order), so he asked me to wait on the side of the street. While i waited, a motorcycle driver zoomed past me and grabbed my phone. I held on tight but soon had to make a choice of letting go or get dragged on the bike. I got a new Xiaomi Note 3 now....

this is why I won't be satisfied with HP's until they incorporate an electric shaver & an 11 million volt tazer

I don't know if it's still common, but puncturing back near tyre was quite common, you would get out have a look and a couple on a M/C would steal from your car, so if you have a puncture and get out lock your doors, it happened to me 4 times, got caught out first time, mate lost his tote bag, daughter once this year, but kept her door locked, also told her just keep driving never mind about the tyre, get somewhere safe

Yep. That happened to me too.

I understand why you felt waarmstrong had offended me, I appreciate your thoughtfulness. Davita is right, nevertheless, it is a general statement, so no apology is necessary. For me, I imagine we are having dinner on the same table (you, me, waarmstrong, and Davita), I started the conversation, then waarmstrong opined (if he is not being concise) “I will not believe the story if I were you, what if the story he told you was fabricated by him or by the person who told him, it’s second-hand and unsubstantiated”. Under this circumstance, I can imagine no one will feel slighted or offended.

Anyway, if only first-hand experience is to be shared here by 200+ members, I don’t think there will be any story (actually, I hope there will be none from forum members, ever). If we share stories already in the news, it can still be helpful as there may be some who haven’t read about the news. But I think sharing second-hand stories should also be encouraged as I believe there are many cases not reported to the police or in the newspaper. There are all kinds of reasons for not going to the police, including the victim’s race, religion, social status, and issues with time, money, etc.

Well yes, I certainly agree. Just keep in mind that the veracity of hearsay is suspect. You can, as well, draw conclusions and make recommendation based on second hand, anecdotal information, but such would be, for me anyway, lacking in persuasive value.

Anyone else here been the victim of street crime ??

I live in America now, so if anyone tries to steal my stuff, I just shoot them.

(Just kidding; the stuff I carry around -- a 10 year old BB for example -- isn't worth stealing.)
