Well folks, I am off tomorrow at about 12 midday. I am sorry to be leaving Indonesia, but I have to say I am not sorry that this last year here is finally coming to an end!

It started off with a fairly long period of illness (approx 4 months), where I kept on working, and where nobody in the office seemed to notice and/or make any comment. Just as long as I kept on teaching those IELTS and SAT classes, and kept helping many students get higher marks than the national average, and kept increasing the profit margin for the company, who the hell cared if I dropped dead on the job!!!

That was bad.... but the following 6 months have been absolute hell in comparison!!!

I am not going to go into it again at this point. Everyone who follows me on Facebook and on the Expat Forums I contribute to, knows the background story.

Just want to remind y'all that it is not over yet, by any means. In fact it is not over until the 'fat lady sings'! I am the fat lady... and I never sing because my voice scares the hell out of people!! So sit down and prepare yourself for one of those blockbuster series we all love!!

Watch this space for future developments! I have to settle in first back in the UK, and persuade the UK government that I am entitled to a pension. Then I will be up and running!!!!

Sorry about all the extra spacing. I copied and pasted this from my Facebook page and the formatting seems to have changed somewhat.

Have a safe journey and a comfortable settling-back-in period Phiss.
I hope you get a chance to sit back & relax & process all the trauma.
Best wishes for the future.

Good luck for your return to the UK, hope all goes well for you. Thank you for your support during our transition to this new forum! Please keep us updated on your adventures and hopefully you will join us in Indonesia again!

yeah Phiss, I was a silent follower, so I concur with what is said above, life's a test where we hopefully & usually emerge a little better for the wear & tear, I'm sure your dogs will be happy in their new home, best wishes,..... oh,karma sometimes takes too long, whereas revenge is sweet.... :)

@ BA and El G. Thanks so much. I know you have both been amongst my biggest supporters during my 'trauma period', along with Puspa and Atlantis, and many, many other people. It has meant so much to me!

I don't know whether this is a threat or a promise... but you are definitely not getting rid of me... in fact I may well be here a bit more often at the beginning as I try to adjust to the cultural changes! :help:

BTW: To all who have been so supportive of the dogs. They have settled in really well and are getting spoilt rotten. I have been sleeping round there for the past few nights, as my bed has been sold. They are both so happy, and so am I because I don't have to worry about them.

Blackie had her sterilization operation three days ago. All went well and she is healing much quicker than even the vets expected. We are giving her the medicine and watching that infection doesn't set in.

Love you all XXXX

Wow, in the time it took me to respond to BA and El G, there were other responders. Please be aware that my thanks and love go to all of you, XXX

Good luck, Phiss. Please come back and tell us how things go there... and your former employer's name. All the best.

Good luck phiss, and pop in our forum from time to time! I'm glad everything worked out for you and the dogs. Have a safe trip!

Hey Phiss!
Have a safe trip and let us know your whereabouts. It has always been a pleasure to read your posts over the years.Hope to read about you again VERY soon.
Regards,
Olivier

Have a safe trip, and keep us up to date.

I always drop the "h" out of your member name... maybe its some form of dyslexia. hahaha

I know EXACTLY how you feel, its the culture is all I can say.

Sorry to hear about your illness mate, I hope you'll recover soon and take care of yourself.

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields and,
Until we meet again,
May God hand you a Boddingtons whenever you desire.

good luck phiss! We will all be eager to hear updates on everything. Let us know how the "reverse culture shock" goes.

Safe trip, and like others have expressed, interested to know your thoughts on settling in.
