Hypnosis

Re: post #13 by Sad_azz

Really...and you are the one who scolded me recently on another thread
Sad_azz? Some hidden aggression here that needs some hypnosis to bring it out perhaps?

OR...lying naked.....guzzling from a barrel of beer.....with a funny hypnotherapist taking care of all 'anxieties'....also works.

Anglian, in theory one could but I am in Indonesia- would be a bit crappy if the signal died in the middle of things.

Fp & Davita..
I saw the slur, I ignored it- I just assumed Davita hadn't taken his meds again. No point arguing about it, seems the problem is all Davita's not mine. :)

Yes I wondered about Skype, line, and Face time, but as you say Skype doesn't work, not enough Wifi, face the picture is crap, possible line might do it, but again not a very good picture, plus I would think one on one better,

Anytime you are over this way pusp - we could video it too so that you could watch it back :)

I'm not sure I'd want such a video to exist. Who knows, if it fell into the wrong hands maybe it would be good for blackmailing me

You said you'd ignored the 'typo' yet still managed to slide it in and retaliated with something about me and needing meds.
That is sad...no creativity.
I suggest try hypnotherapy...I'm told it works....:biggrin1:

Ok Davita - I shall not ignore you on this one seeing as you seem to want my attention: if you have a problem with me - take it in the Cage and sort it out- or get over it.

Ditto.

Exactly, BA. That (we hope) is the beauty of the Cage: civilized discourse in the open forum can co-exist with the more irascible posts that people are tempted to write, by having the Cage to contain them.

That was our vision, anyway. So far so good!

& Pusp, as far as a video is concerned- merely a matter of choice.
But yes, PLRHypnosis: as you pointed out, whether we believe we are revisiting the subject's actual past life (if there is such a thing) or seeing memory flashes brought out through some genes or if we are visiting some figment of the imagination- for my money it could be any one or a mix of all three.
The actual experience itself is fascinating.
one person (an adult) I worked with had their parent sit in- at first the parent was sat back on the sofa, bored and fiddling with their phone, by the end of the session they were laid on the floor with their head propped up on their hands waiting for the next words to come out of the subject's mouth- absolutely rapt.
Ah I can't explain it well- one of those you had to be there times.

Also- I would love to see your wall of writing about the topic- if you don't wish to post here, PM when you have time/inclination :)

Like any mind games it depends on the level of belief.
You can't hypnotise someone who doesn't believe they can be hypnotised.

I was going to say this. So I guess maybe if you're strong-willed, you can't be hypnotized? My wife's family always say don't daydream too much that's when you'll get hypnotized, or maybe when you're walking to a mall (or in a mall) maybe your mind wander and somebody started a conversation, can that happen? Ya know the stories (like somebody posted already) about your driver's wallet being empty, or such-and-such person withdrawing some money at the BCA ATM, giving it to stranger, etc. I am skeptical, yet I don't want to experience it first hand..so I usually shrug when people tell me those stories.

My closest experience to being hypnotized was in college. I bought two burgers during a break in one of our night classes. Came back to class and a sexy redhead just pointed at one of my burgers. I gave it to her without a fight. She smiled and finished my burger. I wondered how she did that.

I must admit I am also skeptical when I read about people being hypnotized into handing over their money - lets be honest if it was actually real wouldn't the hypnotist just walk into the nearest bank and hypnotize the teller into giving him untold amounts of cash over the counter or even just transferring it directly to his account ??

I was in a bank at Lippo, about payday, a young girl filled a big black back with huge bundles of 100,000rp, pay for some factory or other, I thought if I could hypnotis her to give me that bag, I could really retire, it's really quite amazing at times that there actually aren't more robberies

It isn't that fascinating! But one quick story: when I was about 10 years old I was hanging out with three of my cousins. The oldest was 16 or so, and the other two were close to me in age.

The older cousin had been studying hypnosis (on a very amateur level, I'm sure!) and offered to try to hypnotize the three of us. I have been a skeptic since birth...I am pretty sure I emerged from the womb thinking, "what is this shit?"...and the other cousins were pretty full of bravado: "yeah, you can't hypnotize ME, it will never work, I'll stay completely resistant."

But just for the fun of it, we agreed to let him try and to be sincere subjects. And damned if it didn't work...he managed to get all three of us into very relaxed states. Mmm. I still remember how nicely peaceful it felt.

I trained as a hypnotherapist. I used to work with people in the UK and I found it to be a wonderful tool to deal with anxiety and depression, bad habits and phobias.
Then I came to Indonesia where almost everyone seems to think a hypnotist is an evil magician who spirits kids away.

I have a hard time connecting the two versions.

What are your views?
Anyone encountered hypnosis/hypnotherapy and found it to be a dark art or (like me) found it to be a wonderful relaxing mini toolkit to re-jig the way we view things?

I tend to get one of three reactions when I talk about hypnotherapy-
1 ooh can you do me please.
2 scared face and keep away vibes
3 ooh can you teach me how to hypnotise people (usually men, thinking they can hypnotise women hehe)

In reality hypnosis is not some deep mysterious thing at all.
I would liken the hypnotic state to being absorbed in a task such as reading a really good book: the focus is on the task- yet we are aware of our surroundings and the normal sounds and distractions are like white noise.
However if something distinctive alerts us such as a phone ringing then we can switch our focus.
We are still aware of what we were reading when on the phone and still aware of the phone when reading about Mind Spirit Body Hypnosis.
Anyone ever driven their regular route and arrived at the destination but cannot recall segments of the journey, they have stopped at lights, been aware of road rules and driving correctly throughout the journey yet parts of it are a blank... this is akin to hypnosis - a splitting of the conscious if you like.

I find it a fascinating subject and practice, anyone else?
Has anyone had a good, positive, successful experience with regard to hypnotherapy in this situation?
