How do you guys invest?

Previously when someone said “almost any investment can become a good investment if you buy it at a very attractive price ” Yet, there are still a few people who fail to understand this fundamental truth and wisdom in investing (Post #723 & #724). Those who cannot grasp this very basic principle in investing may be better off keeping their money under the mattress instead of investing.

Buying valuable assets at exceptionally low prices is how many Indonesian conglomerates became extraordinarily wealthy. They acquired key national assets, huge amount of land, concession in mining, city toll-road concessions, and stakes in highly profitable banks and other companies under highly favourable terms.

For other acute investors they rely on the skills in valuation of investment and reading opportunity. A few examples come from the AI and data centre boom. If you bought AMD 375.90%, SanDisk (SNDK) 4,413%, Intel (INTL) 507,73% at highly attractive valuations before rallying, you would likely see your investment multiply within just a year. Keep in mind this is a high quality multi billions market cap USD stocks, so the pump and dumb is very unlikely to control the stock price. Did anyone here manage to catch these moment ??

Certainly there is a risk, but the difference between gambler and acute investors, hedge fund is that the latter have knowledge of valuation of investment. AI could help but people will still need their heads and basic knowledge to make judgement.

You forgot to mention the President of the USA and his insider trading. He just bought I think $10 or 20m in some IT thing this week and then gave them a multi billion $ contract and or course the stock soared. Think it was Dell

From Seeking Alpha :

"
Drone-related stocks rallied on Thursday after The Wall Street Journal reported that the Trump administration is considering funding agreements with several drone companies as part of a broader push to expand domestic production and reduce costs for the increasingly important defense technology.

Companies identified by the Pentagon as potential funding candidates include Performance Drone Works, which secured an Army contract to provide reconnaissance drones; Unusual Machines (UMAC), a drone-parts supplier backed by shareholder and advisory board member Donald Trump Jr."

Politicians buying stocks before a major catalyst happens, such as large government contracts or policy announcements, is something that has been widely documented. Nancy Pelosi is also often mentioned as one of the best stock pickers among politicians. Because of this, there has already been ongoing debate about banning stock trading by members of Congress and other government executives

GoTo Gojek Tokopedia’s stock has experienced a massive decline, plummeting from its post-IPO peak of around IDR 400 per share to the IDR 50 mark. Once a celebrated Indonesian "unicorn" with aspirations of a dual listing in New York, the tech giant has fallen on the cliff edge. The recent price drop is also caused by the new presidential regulation which mandate the driver should get at least 92%, so only 8% left for the tech giant to fund their operation, promotional activities, etc. So just wait and see what will happen to Gojek and Tokopedia later. Could they still exist for a longer time ??

Under the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) regular board rules, IDR 50 historically acted as the minimum "floor price,". So once the floor price is reached it is automatically moved to the Special Monitoring Board where theoretically, it could drop as low as IDR 1 per share

The risk of investing (or gambling ?) in Indonesia's stock market Lesson Learnt
Hotman's friend (Hotman Paris) invested in stocks, losing 50 billion rupiah in a month from 100 billion rupiah.

But this could happen to anyone and anywhere (not just in Indonesia). Depending on the person risk attitude, knowledge of risk vs reward, investing could be borderline with gambling.

To short SpaceX stock, you can purchase inverse leveraged ETFs like the 2x Short SPCX Daily ETF (SSPC)on regulated exchanges, trade perpetual futures on crypto platforms (such as Hyperliquid), or utilize derivative brokerages like MetaTrader/Trading View. Direct borrowing to short via a traditional margin account is currently unavailable.

Methods to Short SpaceX
  1. Inverse Leveraged ETFs (e.g., SSPC)
    • How it works: Products like the 2x Short SPCX Daily ETF (SSPC) aim to deliver -200% (-2x) of the daily performance of SpaceX common stock.
    • Where to trade: Available on Cboe and traditional brokerages that support single-stock leveraged ETFs.
    • Risk warning: Leveraged and inverse ETFs rebalance daily, meaning they are designed for short-term, intraday trading rather than long-term holds due to decay.
  2. Derivative and Crypto Platforms
    • How it works: Certain decentralized exchanges (DEXs) offer perpetual contracts that track SpaceX's stock value (often using a ticker like SPCX).
    • Where to trade: Exchanges like Hyperliquid allow traders to deposit stablecoins (such as USDC) and open leveraged short positions on SpaceX-linked contracts.
    • Where to trade: Contract and derivative brokerages like MetaTrader 5 (MT5) also permit users to execute "Sell" orders with leverage on SpaceX derivatives.

When buying a stock, the most you can loose is your investment.
When shorting a stock the losses are illimited if the market turns against you !
