HAPPY 80th BIRTHDAY DAVITA

As I was reading your reply on the 'Plan B' thread yesterday, I was alerted to your birthday tomorrow (which is today). But yesterday was not the day to say it, today is the day... Happy Birthday Davita.

Happy Birth day Davita, 80 is only 40 x 2

Yes mate, sama sama, 80 & sharp as a tack, humility, humour, candor, timelessness, something we could all aspire to.

20 more minutes, I hope she didn't swap you for two of 40?!

Thanks to everyone here for the good wishes on me becoming an octogenarian...jeeez...it sounds like I just graduated from a lingua school.
We had a great party last night with 12 of our dear friends, including some who had traveled far to be in Bali.
Anyhoo...it appears I made a speech, although I cannot recall, but someone took a video and this is what I said...although in a 'slightly' slurred voice....a lot of wine was imbibed last night.

"We're here to celebrate my 80th but you know...there's no fun in getting old....because you lose everything. Some of us lose our hair and some lose our hearing. We often lose our specs and most certainly you lose your libido and those blue pills are useless...you'd be as well swallow them....and mmm! I forgot what else you lose....Oh! I remember....you lose your memory.
You can't tie your shoes without falling over. You can't get a spoon into your mouth and people think you're waving at them or wanting to shake hands...... but actually you're just shaking. They cancel your medical insurance when you get old. They cancel your pension unless you tell them you're still alive or dead. How to tell them you're dead still alludes me. I just received a nice letter from the Minister of Transport Canada congratulating me on reaching 80.... but regrets to say he's suspended my driving licence.
Nowadays there's no respect for age. Children laugh at you trying to open a chocolate bar. Teenagers call you names as they skate by when you're in their way. I was walking down Dyana Pura the other night and a prostitute called out "Heh! old man... my grandma says Hi!"
But one good thing about getting old is you make a lot of friends on the way....as I have here.

I'd like to thank Ita for arranging this party. I'd like to thank Putu and staff for helping her but most of all I'd like to thank each and everyone for being a friend and coming here to celebrate with me. I appreciate that very much."

I wish I knew how to downsize some pics, so I can show, because the forum says each picture file is too large.

Nice one dave, so this is what I have to look forward to next year on my 80th, you are right, it does seem down hill, but do these thing happen all at once

Davita do you have any copyrights on your nice speech ? I like to keep it and when I have the chance to reach 80 ( 13 years from now) I will use it. :blah:

1. Your on 'final approach' my friend...it happens suddenly. I sometimes wish I'd never gone to see my doctor and have all those tests...at our age probably best to not know how frail our bodies are and when we go 'up there or down there' as the case may be..... we go with a smile. The rest of you young-uns...get a colonoscopy and extend your lives.

2. Fill yer boots as they say ...but remember... it is only amusing if you make the speech drunk and slurred 'coz nobody listens anyway. I overheard one of my 'friends' ask...is he done yet...

Oh dear my big banana type fingers pressed the dislike and not the like, could we have those icons a bit bigger and change them if you've made a mistake,
Sorry Davita that's a like

Hey Davita, just stick on you plan A, wake up in the morning. Belated, Happy Birthday from Switzerland and I hope, you have a wonderful time

Happy belated birthday Davita, sorry it's late. Only able to log back in here today. Seemed like you have had a lovely celebration on the day. All the best.:thumb:
