Indonesian culture is not gender neutral. The women that are more likely to want to be seen equally will seek out men from different cultural backgrounds that put a greater value on that. I have met many women over the years that have expressed that interest. (maybe Dan's wife is one :) )

Nah, the istri has a thing for white boys. She's a strong, independent woman, but I don't think she married me because she perceives my culture to favor greater equality or freedoms. Sometimes she criticizes me for being too liberal, though not on issues of women's rights.

You can take the girl out of Aceh, but you can't take Aceh out of the girl, no?

She's had a fascination with the English language due to boy bands. That was her escape in boarding school. I can thank Westlife and the Backstreet Boys for my marriage. Oh, and Chris Evans.

Ha ha ha...... there you go she had a thing for white boys, you 2 met, the attraction must have been mutual and the rest is history. I think I have heard of something like this in music and literature before.

Yeah, we met at school. Pretty standard stuff.

I'm very open to anyone of any race when it comes to women. I'm not very international when it comes to men. I've never really been able to figure out the disconnect there. I feel like I'm pretty consistent otherwise, and I don't feel like I've been unduly influenced by "Western beauty standards" or whatever.

My wife is pretty selective. She won't give South Asians, Arabs, Turks or black men the time of day.

Speaking of my homosexual side, that reddit is unusually focused on white men, Asian women. Zero attention seems to be given to racial preferences among homosexuals, which are every bit as prevalent as in heterosexual relationships. Gay white men frequently express either a desire for only white Hispanic or a "specialty" preference for one race. For Asian gay men, they are almost never "sticky rice" (likes other gay Asian men), they almost always exclusively date white men. I'd say that gay men who say race/ethnicity is not important are a minority.

Why is it only an issue when the perception is that "they're taking our women?" I think the participants in that reddit are a mirror image of white nationalists claiming they're lifeguards of the white gene pool.
