Forum Cafe- pull up a chair grab a cuppa and shoot the sheet

Add some Brisket and Sweet Potato Pie combined with all the beers now available from the explosion of the micro breweries and I love eating in the South.

Spring trip will involve the Bourbon Trail tour in Kentucky. More to my taste in liquid refreshment. Already have 5 couples signed up and a few more maybes. Looking to rent a bus or large RV. Problem is finding a designated driver.
Send me a ticket & I'll drive for you :) as long as you introduce me to the food, you can have all the bourbon.

Great offer !!! As long as you are driving, we might want to extend the tour. Nashville is relatively close for good food and music.

Oh, Now you're talking! Nashville is on my bucket list - but I fear reality will be far from my perceptions... much like the idea of seeing jazz bands in the streets of New Orleans (as per some old Bond film).

I liked Nashville more than Memphis. Although both have their charm. That 'jazz scene' in New Orleans is a bit overrated imho, but it is nice to stroll around in the French quarter.

I did my FAA A&P at Nashville, recommended by my American pals in Saudi, the residents are a bit strange, they talk weird, kept saying, say that again, or You don't come from round here do you, I had to point out out I was English and this is how it's spoken, but I had a great time the natives are very friendly and helpful, even if they don't know what your talking about

Although I have never seen the marches (funeral?) in the streets, I don't think the jazz scene in NOLA is over rated. Just walking the streets, you would encounter any number of small groups playing for tips. And most are very good. Numerous jazz clubs or any other style of music and seldom any cover charge, Indoors or out, good music is everywhere.

And one can still find a variety of music in Nashville, it will be country music dominated. More relaxed and laid back while NOLA is on steroids.

And you were not even in the deep south. In some places, interpreters would have been needed.

Ohhh sounds awesome.
I didn't know how much things had been affected by the hurricane (Katrina?) long term- I figured such devastation might have sucked some of the soul out of the place. Seems I might be wrong.

The chick didn't survive- an over attentive auntie or daddy I suppose... ah well. Sad but something I can't change.
Other than that today has been a day of learning for me.
Learning new music- more modern artists that seem to have slipped me by- & I quite like Jess Glyne & Sia.
Learning computery things- oh how I hate learning computery things- but seems I can make my own basic website without the need to actually pay someone else to do it- always a plus.

Reading & gathering artists together & chatting. I suppose a productive day but not really got anything to show for it- will have to tell myself the same as I keep telling my hubby- the hard work goes in the foundations , the easy bit is after the foundations are laid.

BBQ ing some chicken and drinking some beer

I got soaked and drove thru flood water on my way to my destination... and left all nice & dry with a bit of sunshine... to be stuck in the middle of traffic with no place to move to and the rain came back again- couldn't get my rain coat or anything on so I got soaked twice in one day & if that wasn't crummy enough, sat at traffic lights & some bastard in a car rammed into the back of my bike & nearly threw me off.
He got an earful of expletives & he had no where to escape to... ooh the wrath of a soggy rear-ended Baddie can be vile.

I can not remember a single day without (some) rain as of last summer...

On the East Coast of America you don't have to ride home, flood swollen rivers will bring the house to you.

I got lucky and hurricane Matthew took a slight wobble to the East coming up North through the Bahamas, the eye was out 100 miles and we barely got hit, up North didn't get so lucky, along with some of the islands before.

Yesterday was busy day.
7 - 8 tennis,
8 - 9:30 helped wife on family gathering and brisk walking to take pictures of the activities
10 - 12 badminton
Backhome very exhausted. Dipped into warm water, and then the accident happened. I was slipping, and my rib hit the edge of bathtub. painful but no visual damage.
Seem getting worst this morning. Very painful everytime I make a move or even breathing.
Will go to hospital now

Ouch!. I know of people who have had really serious injuries caused by slipping in the bath or shower. You can buy bathmats with suction caps that just stick to the bottom of the bath to prevent that kind of slippage. If they are not readily available in your area I would use one of those grid rubber mats used under your feet in cars. Not elegant but better than slipping and banging your noggin or ribs.

We have it. But forgot to put it back after our maid washed and hang it outside.

As a matter of fact I have the exact same thing. Cracked ribs. Though I didn't do it the same way. I've managed to fall down a container while running on a plank of wood and carrying an heavy load. Hard to do a more stupid thing.
The bad news is that I fell last Saturday and eight days after still badly feel it. This being said I've done nothing this whole week of what is needed for it to heel: resting (and not carrying loads.

Wish you a prompt recovery.

Just get the x-ray result. Only one rib broken, the last one but still in place. swollen is visible now.

Ouch...sounds painful!!!
You have a broken rib and maybe Atlantis also (he's too macho-stubborn to get his checked). Tomorrow I'm going to be opened-up and a fish-net installed to repair my Incisional Ventral Hernia and poke back this lump I've developed in the middle of my belly....if I were female I'd be a tri-boober.

We should get together later and compare medical notes....and the medical bills....:violin:
