I believe in other European cultures/languages they are know as roulades, involtini, or rotolos. They are a lean protein, sliced thin, then rolled with saltier ingredients and sliced. Chicken cordon blue, a dish of chicken rolled around ham and cheese, to be originated from schnitzel, a flat fried meat, is a ridiculous ignorance of the European culinary traditions that the dish mimics."
Chicken Cordon Blue was likely invented, popularize, or named in the United States. It has a European rolleto design, but no known ties to the Cordon Blue school or any of its chefs.
Its popularity comes from it similarity to another Indonesia food, croquets. This is from the Dutch colonial influence It is very similar to an Indonesian food croquets, and tied to why it has gained in popularity through the country. The Indonesians that I have spoken to viewed it as an extension of the croquet."
I hope you are joking......

And comparing it with croquettes.....![]()
And I did not compare it to croquettes, I stated that many Indonesians have told me it seems like a similar culinary background (even if to westerners it isn't as one dish is American and the other Dutch-Indonesian). Croquettes in Indonesia are often the same shape and appearance to chicken cordon blue with similar exterior deep fried breading and a creamy meaty filing (Kroket ayam). Same with risoles. From an Indonesian perspective, it is understandable association.
