Fee-only/Independent Financial Advisor in Jakarta

Hi all,

Is there such a thing as a fee-only financial advisor/planner in Jakarta?

In North America they are not working for a financial institution/bank but instead, they work for independent registered investment advisors.

Some managed their client portfolio. There are others who do not offer portfolio management and strictly sell advice based on an hourly rate of consultation only. There are also others who provide both, portfolio management and hourly consultation.

That said, are there fee-only/independent financial advisor in Jakarta?

For investment advisory (financial markets), the service has to be provided by a licensed company. They have employees for that (WMI-Wakil Manajer Investasi/Investment Manager), licensed by the OJG (Indonesian FSA).

A long time ago, it was possible to get a license as an individual, but I think none of them are left or re-registered as companies.

Earlier, based on regulations (probably still possible) as a freelancer, you could manage a portfolio of up to a dozen or a few dozen clients, based on private contracts, and could not market yourself publicly.

This should answer part of your question about managing portfolios-independent advisor in most of cases could not do it unless with a private contract and is limited with number of such clients.
