Expat Court Victories?

Well before getting married I had a girlfriend being an AKBP in POLRI. One day while we were discussing she told me something a bit weird. It was in a discussion about not being involved in any way with drugs in Indonesia (which I certainly didn t want to anyway). She told me more or less this: "If I would be involved in a murder case, I know I could get away with. If I would be involved in a serious drug affair, I know I wouldn t be able to get away with.". If you think about it, it is pretty chilling and talks volume about both the Police and Justice system.
But I think that, along with drug case specificity she could have say "any case concerning blasphemy". In Indonesia, you don t mess with religion, or, to be more precise, you don t mess with Islam. It s sure recipe to end up in very hot waters.

Actually murder is hard to prove, apart from evidence etc you can claim self defence, manslaughter, accident, insanity etc etc etc whereas drugs is just something physical in your possession, how heavy it is and what it is, it doesn't matter if it is yours or not, you are screwed either way, but to prove a murder beyond reasonable doubt is a bit harder, even with forensics. I watch CSI once, so I know this stuff

And I also watch 86 on tv, if you get caught with drugs, they just make you do some push ups and give you a clip round the ear then ride off on a scooter with a big tv camera.

Sure but the worry here is that you might be required to provide that you didn't do it rather than the other way around and that is much harder.
