Eruption. Rescue Helicopter Crashes 8 Dead. Tourists Injured

A helicopter carrying eight people crashed Sunday while on the way to help with evacuations near a volcano that erupted on the main Indonesian island of Java. Officials didn't know the fate of the people on board, but villagers said they found two bodies at the crash site.

The eruption of the volcano, located in a popular tourist area, injured at least 10 people.

Ten people have been injured after a volcano popular with tourists erupted today on Java, Indonesia's main island.

Sileri Crater at Dieng Plateau spewed cold lava, mud and ash up to 50 metres into the sky when it suddenly erupted at around 11.30am local time.
Around 17 visitors were gathered around the crater at the time and ten are receiving hospital treatment, National Disaster Mitigation Agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho has confirmed

It's now confirmed all on board the helicopter were killed

All eight people on board were killed, said Maj. Gen. Heronimus Guru, deputy operations chief of the National Search and Rescue Agency. He told The Associated Press, "We are now at the Bhayangkara Hospital in Semarang," the Central Java provincial capital where the victims' bodies were taken.

Very sad when those going to save others perish in that process. It's situations like this that show we should remember to cherish those in the business of saving others.
For all the carnage some are bestowing on others, mainly for religious reasons, it's comforting that some still believe in humanity.
