DON'T PANIC.... well, maybe a little bit.

So if a vaccine (Sinovac) only reduces my chance of hospitalization by 65% and/or reduce severity (if I ever got infected) by...say 50%...if that's the case I'll take 65% and 50% instead of 0%.

Speaking of vaccine....I got mine on Saturday, feeling fine up until last Monday,, but started feeling on and off (mild) lethargic..fstarting Tuesday and lack of a better word 'panas dalam' (the heck is an english phrase for it??)...nothing that a panadol can't fix...but it was going on maybe about 4-5 days, combined with a bit of light sniffles and sneezing for half a day. Had a really stressful day this past Friday, that didn't help..but after some more panadol (flu/cold) and a bit of melatonin to help me sleep...finally I'm feeling like 100% today, hope it was just a case of my body taking a longer/delayed time to deal with the vaccine.

About this PPKM...we'll see if it's 'really' effective to reduce the numbers...as even though the malls and streets are closed...the cabin fever jakartans, are just hanging out with their neighbors....in my neighborhood complex this morning, saw a few bapak bapak sat around in circle by the security posts...talking with their coffee, snacks and cigarettes (so no masks)....and a couple families having picnics at the estate's park with about 5-6 kids running around...all no masks of course. I could only imagine it's much worse in some of the more crowded areas/kampungs (as I ready cynical updates from some folks in my whatsapp about 'ppkm happens only in the tolls/main streets but not in neighborhoods..) hope I'm wrong.

Lockdowns have been done in the West since over a year now .....
Result ? Rince and repeat. It will be interesting to see September in Europe, after the summer holidays ....
This is IMO ridiculous. There will be another variant, another panic, another lockdown. So how many years will this last ?
But hey, the majority is happy with it, so .....

On the other hand, I think it was a major mistake to open Bali to domestic tourism. It's a rather small island, only 2 entrances, easy job.

I am beginning to wonder whether my wife will be able to drive from Tangerang to Pluit to pick me up when my quarantine ends the day after tomorrow (6 July).

And it applies to Indonesians as well as foreigners. Non vaccinated Indonesians will be forced to have a vaccine during their quarantine:doh:

I wish there was a control group of people who would volunteer to stay in a neighborhood/area without any lockdown restrictions and compared the cases with the lockdown restriction.

Just because the lockdown still produces infections, doesn't mean it had no effect.

Well, I am definitely not in the majority..never been a fan of total lockdown. The effect on the economy and people's livelihood is much more severe than the potential reduction in infection in my opinion. Do a 50% but enforce it...or do the 'show vaccine proof and we'll let you in' at the mall, airport, etc. Anything but a total lockdown.

Fully vaccinated, technically. Is Johnson & Johnson still the only single-shot vaccine in the world?
As far as I know, yes. It would be rather strange if imigrasi required two shots of a one-shot vaccine

Breaking News; starting 6 July foreigners are only allowed into Indonesia if they are fully vaccinated and the mandatory quarantine time is increased to 8 days... 🙏 (credit to Kris C.)

The Spokesperson for the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Jodi Mahardi, stated that all foreign citizens (WNA) entering Indonesia must have a card/proof of COVID-19 vaccination starting July 6, 2021.
"All foreigners who come to Indonesia, starting July 6, 2021, must show a vaccine card (fully vaccinated) and a negative PCR result for COVID-19 before entering Indonesia," said Jodi quoting the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan in a written statement quoted from Antara, Sunday (4/7).

However, exemption from vaccination certificates is granted to diplomats and visiting foreign officials at the ministerial level in accordance with diplomatic relations practices that are also applied by other countries.

Still quoting Luhut's statement, Jodi said that Indonesian citizens who will enter Indonesia but do not have a vaccine card must first show a negative PCR for COVID-19 before arrival. After being quarantined and proven PCR negative, they will immediately get vaccinated.

In addition, foreigners and Indonesian citizens are required to undergo quarantine for 8 days with two PCR tests upon arrival and on the 7th day of arrival.

1. It is necessary to tighten the quarantine period for international travellers as a form of increasing awareness in dealing with variants of concern.
2. The median incubation of the SARS-CoV-2 variants Delta and Alpha is 4 days. Thus, the 8-day quarantine period covers twice the median incubation period of the virus.
3. The 8-day quarantine is carried out with a combination of entry & exit RT-PCR testing which is carried out at the time of arrival of the traveler (first day) and repeated on the 7th day.
4. Entry testing is carried out to detect as early as possible the potential for transmission from travellers.
5. Exit testing is carried out on the 7th day to wait for the virus incubation period, in anticipation of the virus not being detected in the first test.
6. The combination of quarantine and entry-exit testing (days 1 and 7) can prevent post-quarantine transmission, with a probability of transmission < 0.25 percent.
7. The implementation of quarantine for travellers needs to be carried out with discipline and strictness, in order to avoid transmission during the quarantine period.

Panas dalam
Hot inside

"Fever" ?
Not really a fever....not even a low grade one. Just feeling really 'under the weather' but temp was normal at 35.8-36. In any case, I'm fine now. Maybe I was just dehydrated.

and gotta say though it feels weird watching my friends' facebook since Oregon lifted the mask requirement...I'm so used to wearing mask and social distancing now, i might freak out getting close to people when I visit..

Do you realize what the governement (and the media) managed to do to your mental state ?
Because it is absolutely NOT normal to wear a mask in daily life.

Well, except if living in horribly poluted cities, but than anyway one shouldn't live there anyway.

I might also also freak out when someone lets their children wander around in my moving car. This is definitely something that the government has managed to do to my mental state through years of media campaigns. I thank them for it. I prefer worrying about children with their brains splattered on windshields to seeing children with their brains splattered on windshields.

The government convincing people to do things that are good for themselves and society at large is part of good governance, not an abnormality.

They closed the beach ..... must be bloody dangerous ?
But riding the subway or bus packed like sardines in the big cities is not a problem .....
Positive side : I am gonna save quite a bit of beer and resto money !
The point is to reduce or stop all unnecessary travel. People need to make a living because the gov’t can’t afford to just pay everybody to stay home like in USA, so commuting on public transport is a necessary evil.

People can survive without going to the beach, so they better stay home.

Yep and I love dog shit and broken glass in my feet so I chop up dead cows and tie their skin onto my feet.

Then walk around European houses.
