Discussion about expat salaries and perks as English teacher in Indonesia

It will be interesting to see how this pans out. A huge amount of money has already been spent with construction but as it seems the world moves into a period of economic turbulence it may become difficult to keep providing the necessary funding. I have seen talk of a sea wall to protect Jakarta but that doesn't mitigate the continued of sinking Jakarta and presumably flooding will get worse.
One of the main problems is they hoped to have a lot of overseas / private investment and financing but at the end very few funds / countries / investors are interested...

This could be Great news for the Dyak people, and the Orangutan's. I'm sure people have already done extreme damage by deforestation, to plant those horrible Palm oil plantations! If the capital is completed and millions of people move there, then you can say goodbye, to one of the last Great Tropical islands in the World! I feel Sorry for the poor Animals that have called it home for thousands of years! The Dyak culture will be lost, along with the fine Art!
My heart breaks to think of the Orangutan's. They only have Sumatra, and Borneo/ Kalimantan to call home. It seems the Humans are determined to wipe them out, along with the Sumatran Tiger, And Elephant! It will get to the point, if you want to see these magnificent animals, Orangutans, Tigers, Sumatran Elephants, Pythons, Hornbills, etc, people will have to go to a Zoo, to see the last of them! 🦧🐗😭🐘🐅

Irrelevant. In 1950-60s Palangkaraya was a candidate for the national capital. Before that Yogyakarta, Bandung etc. Still, Jakarta is already 400 years+ the capital.
