Cryptocurrencies

I really don't think there are any indicators of a crash for the time being, not a significant long term one.

Obviously, I really should never have said what I did in the above post as it will taunt fate.

1 Bitcoin equals
9550.00 US Dollar There just seems to be no stopping it. :jaw:

It's insane. I wonder if it's not a good idea to sell at $10,000, it being such a psychological price.

I think it would be fun to ride it out to 30,000 ;)

Yaaaay... I might just buy some more before it hits 100,000

I've been buying GTBC shares to get exposed to bitcoin. It is a bitcoin investment trust so the bitcoin is held by the company. It is a more expensive way to get exposed, but also seems safer (not from market risk, but from theft, loss of key etc...) they do charge a 2% management fee, but the returns so far have been staggering.

Oh..............wait a minute I think it is down to 9000...................oh oh.........maybe .......oh well wait and see.

Re Indonesia "banning" the Bitcoin. I am not in the least surprised. Let's face it, the country doesn't permit people to be paid in USD here.
Governments want to keep control of the fiats because that way they keep control of the markets/ populations. & to gain favour with the voters they say its to prevent terrorism. Historically terrorists have been funded & armed by governments.
Makes me laugh.

Anyway- here's the old news (early Nov) regurgitated:
https://id.techinasia.com/bank-indonesia-tegaskan-larangan-bitcoin

In short Bitcoin as a currency will not be permitted. So using bank transfers to buy it , or dealing in it as a currency will not be permitted.
As an investment different pot of fish.
The cynic within me wonders why hit the news with this again today... probably to drive prices down a bit... (let's hope) so that people can buy in before it goes thru the roof.

I now humbly place before all the clever people who understand cryptocurrencies the link below and ask, "Does anyone understand this? It reminds me of Tolkien's creations The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings and actually devising a language for the Hobbits.

In responding bear in mind I still have to think twice when using the word "billion" as to it being 1000 million or 1,000,000 million. I now await some moment of enlightenment with brilliant replies.

If you look on here:
https://www.cryptocompare.com/coins/#/btc
You will see lists of the coins & they will say PoW/ PoS under the Proof Type header.

In short it identifies how decentralised it is.
PoW is the one that probably owns lots of computers- the big boys with all the money chugging away at mining the coins.
PoS is more decentralized /fairer.

If I have to be honest- at first I thought PoS meant Piece of shit :D

& here is a pretty good link for those of us learning what all this language means... https://www.buybitcoinworldwide.com/definitions/

& when I think billion I have no idea as the UK billion & the US billion differ - I just think of it meaning : a lot :D

How's that for brilliant minds Harryopal ?

I bought into SALT yesterday- fingers crossed it will go to the moon, still pretty cheap.
I have been selling my BTC to buy into the alt coins.
Every £20 profit I make, I change it for something else- so I have quite a spread now.
I ditched my golem a while back. I now have :
in £
coin/ buying price/ today's price
BTC: too many ins & outs and so forth to have an exact price
BTCH: 13:25 / 17:25
ETH: 10:49 / 12:64
DASH: 19:97 / 34:53
LTC: 29:37 / 36:71
OMG: 09:71 / n/a
DNT: 09:45 / 09:68
SALT: 10:08 / 11:52
FUN: 07:76 / 08:45

I also have some bitcoin gold- however that has not been accessed by me yet- am leaving it sat wherever it is for the time being as there have been some scare stories from some who have tried to access it- and the safe way for me to access it is very convoluted. So patience is the order of the day on that one.
I also have some ICO tokens sitting about with a bit lot of luck they will get a good price but somehow I feel I might have bought into some crap with them.
I did want to buy into Ripple when I first started but my wallet doesn't yet support it, so I missed out there.
The overall performance of the coins I bought in the past couple of weeks has been good
