Bank Indonesia (BI) officially introduced and launched the Kartu Kredit Indonesia (KKI) for the retail and general consumer public yesterday so on August 17, 2026, coinciding with Indonesia's Independence Day.
So after the launch of the Government Credit Card (KKP Domestik) for state and government procurement in May ‘23, testing and overcoming the hurdles took more than 3 years. It is still a digital credit eh …. card* mainly for use with QRIS etc. Later they expect it will also become a physical plastic card with chip etc.
Eight banks support the rollout: BCA, Bank Mandiri, BNI, BRI, CIMB Niaga, PermataBank, Bank Mega, and Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI).
* Allo Bank also offers a digital-card-only but it’s a VISA credit card
