The cheapest shot in any debate or discourse is to call someone what you believe me to be.

You are mistaken if you think that my response to you was intended as "debate". I fully realize the futility of such endeavor.

As for what I believe what you are, lets say that your posts in this forum have left me with little doubt.

I knew of global warming way before the internet by sitting in classrooms and having my Geography Professors explain it. It was in the text then and nice graphs and such showing the cycles it has gone through and what is predicted. Everything that is being said today was right there in black and white. That was over 40 years ago but the difference between then and now is the money was in building a bigger car then and proclaiming we can change the climate to be nice to us now.

The story and the outcome hasn't changed between then and now, just a bunch of people jumping on the politically correct bandwagon and dragging along all the folks that think it can change. Well, it's not going to be fixed. Just like the salt water shells I used to dig up in the Mississippi River valley in Iowa, the fossels tell a convincing tale. The places they say will be underwater will be under water. The weather patterns they say will be produced, will in fact be produced. Could it be the extinction of the human race? I highly doubt that. These billions of dollars being thrown at climate change would probably be better spent building some barriers against some of the effects of it. They say if the Antartic melts it will bring a sea rise of 56 meters. My home is over 100 meters above the current sea level. Now, if you think I live at this elevation because of global warming, you would be wrong. I'm afraid I have to keep the more current threats in mind which would better serve me than something that may happen way past my life time. My thing is if Krakatoa or Anak Krakatoa goes off again I am above any predicted tsunami levels. One should not forget the more immediate threats, and there are many, and give weight to future possible threats.

My eternally negative mother had the habit of continually asking me in a worried voice “what will you do when the water comes up”, referring to global warming of course. My reply would always be “I told you I'll buy a boat & tie it to the balcony”...... One time I asked her what she would do & she replied “I don't know”. I said “you'll be okay, your house is way above sea level, but if you want to go shopping you'll need a boat” to which she replied “ but I don't like boats”.......

I really don't care what side of the fence anyone is on regarding global warming. This doesn't mean we can't be better stewards of our planet.
You can find scientific "evidence" to prove pretty much any point you choose. Likewise for statistics.
Anyway, hope we don't have a tsunami today....... I gotta go to Panganderan.

Indeed so, but misguided efforts to reduce CO2 output takes funds and efforts away from efforts to clean trash, reduce plastic use, fix particulate air pollution, protect animal ranges and so on...
