I thought today was just a ‘bridge’ day between Waisak and the weekend, but somebody told me it is in fact an official public holiday. Although rare (this additional Waisak holiday) it led to a long bank holiday (again).
These kind of days seem to be part of the -rather excessive maximum of- 28 yearly public holidays. (That put RI in 2nd place after Nepal.)
Next one is the Idul Adha. Last year the government decided to extend this (sacrifice) holiday by giving extra 2 days of mandatory leave before and after the festivities. This year it seems to be two days in total, 17 and 18 June. Monday and Tuesday.
