And if you break a leg?

In show bizz a typical wish for good luck is 'break a leg." Not sure what the appropriate good luck message should be for some using a motorbike through Gojek and Grab but I am curious as to what happens in the event of breaking leg on the back of one of these. Where lies the responsibility? Do they carry public liability insurance that would cover such a mishap? In the absence of that what do we presume happens? Is the individual motorcylist tax driver responsible? Is the company offering the App responsible or does it fall back in the lap of the passenger for not checking out the facts before throwing a leg over the machine?

Curiously yours, Harryopal

I was told that you are insured, wouldn't want to test it though, a friend of ours last week was involved in a bus accident coming back from Bandung, the bus company paid for her and the drivers medical treatment

if you broke your leg while "throwing it over" the machine, you'd probably be charged with muffler abuse ....

Friend of mine had an accident whilst on the back of a Gojek caused by a car driver pulling out on then. The Gojek braked too hard and the bike slid out from beneath them, she was wearing shorts and as a result grazed her leg quite badly. The Gojek took here to the hospital, waited with her and dropped her home afterwards without charge - he left her his details and told her to contact the office and get her medical costs reimbursed. She provided the receipts from the hospital and they did reimburse her, however it was less that half a million rupiah - not sure what would happen if she had sustained more serious injuries and went into intensive care.

I can imagine, if you suffer a serious injury, that you're on your own. Especially, if you request a 'western' treatment in a hospital.

If you're planning to wait for an ambulance, forget it, then you're on your own yes. Better (hope) you get (into) a taxi or so.

But as said before, there are some insurance perks of the STNK. Look up SWDKLLJ:

Besarnya santunan yang diperoleh oleh Jasa Raharja berdasar pada Ketetapan Menteri Keuangan RI No 36/PMK. 010/2008 dan 37/PMK. 010/2008 pada 26 Februari 2008 yaitu :

- Meninggal Dunia, sebesar Rp 25 juta

- Cacat (Maksimal), sebesar Rp 25 juta

- Biaya Rawat (Maksimal), sebesar Rp 10 juta

- Biaya Penguburan, sebesar Rp 2 juta

They cover death and burial, invalidity, hospital, ....

Is that just for the owner of the STNK or anyone on or in that vehicle?

The victim (so it can also be a person like a pedestrian).
