I'm losing hair too, really worrying, hope it's not a sign of menopause. :(
My routine hair treatment usually only shampoo, conditioner, hair tonic, hair vitamin and once/twice a week DIY hair mask. But lately the loss is just way too much, I'm afraid of getting bald. I tried minoxidil once, I stopped because it made my head skin dry and caused dandruff. Same thing when I tried Sebamed anti hair loss shampoo.
I'm thinking to check my thyroid, hope it's not a sign of hypothyroidism either. :rain:

Mine seems to have stabilised now & I think it was trauma related to my being quite ill a few months back. I noticed I have lots of new hair growing through, funny because my hair is long and the new stuff is short fluff.

Hair loss seems to be one of the worst problems for women like us :(
I'm in this trouble too! I'm afraid every time I wash and comb my hair, they fall a lot..

I read in a newspaper last week, only the headline of the article, my hair has nearly gone and who at my age gives a toss, but what I saw it's due to you ladies showering your hair too often, why that would effect women more than men, no idea

I find that one really hard to believe. it would be interesting to see the back up to that argument. x

Sorry BA, as it referred to ladies and my Barney has nearly gone I didn't read the article, I think it was in the Daily Express

For what I read and what I experience, when the scalp feels oily that's when it needs to be washed. I find it right, after shampooing my hair really clean, my hairs don't fall as much as when it's dirty/oily. But once it gets oily...oh no..

I think it's got something to do with finding your own personal balance depending on your hair type ie how quickly it gets too oily or how it reacts to many harsh shampoos on the market which are probably no better than dishwashing liquid & cause it to be too dry. Sometimes people go from one extreme to the other of too oily / too dry or as the article may be alluding to,they wash their hair too much & so it is perpetually too dry & stripped of it's natural protecting oil. . A gentle medicated shampoo is probably best for anyone experiencing problems along with finding their balance in washing periods & also with adequate dairy products in the diet which supply essential nutrients to the hair & apparently help prevent hair fall.

I know it worked for my wife, she increased her intake of dairy products, especially milk & now uses Neutrogena T-Gel twice per week.

To the best of my knowledge external applications (unless some strong absorbent medications such as steroid-which absorbs deep into the skin-an area I don't know enough about to comment further, other than to say I wouldn't consider using steroids in my scalp) to the hair have bugger all effect on the follicles- these are seated inside the mid level of the skin & fed by blood vessels. By the time we see the hair itself it is already made up of dead cells.
So diet is important for hair health.
Hormones and genetic make-up are also defining factors.

Oh I forgot to mention, that I tried to consume Biotin for 2 months, drank routinely. But no improvement. I might try Neutrogena T-Gel, where to get it? I googled and no result. It's another imported product that hard to find in Indonesia. :(

Yes, we tried to find the T Gel in Bali with no luck so I ended up bringing some from Australia.
On reading BA.'s comments, I think she's right & that the words medicated or therapeutic on shampoo may not be quite what they lead us to believe.

What I think is important is to use a gentle shampoo & not use too much too often as can often be the case causing natural oils to be totally stripped from the hair & going between too oily on one hand & to too dry on the other which can cause the hair to be brittle & break.

My wife has informed me that she also uses TRESemme Scalp Care Conditioner which is anti-dandruff & hairfall – quite decently priced at rp23,000 for 170ml. She also says if she didn't have the Neutrogena T Gel (which she uses sparingly) she would probably use a TRESemme shampoo sparingly.
