2nd Kitap renewal at Tangerang Immigratio

E-KTP is not last forever for us WNA but base on KITAP expire date. Currently my KTP is green paper but coming Monday I will apply to change it to E-KTP as I read I need e-KTP to renew KITAP.

Is that what they told you, that you need e-KTP to renew your KITAP?? That totally contradicts what I was told!


I was told at CatSip that I could not get the e-KTP as it is valid forever, which is the reason why they told me that I needed to have the paper version, which is valid for 5 years, or until KITAP expires.

They said that I have renewed my KITAP ( to get the second KITAP, which is valid forever, like the e-KTP) first before I could have an e-KTP.

In short, what I was told is - 1. Paper KTP is valid for 5 years, so goes with KITAP which also for 5 years.
2. E-KTP is valid forever, so goes with the KITAP, which is valid forever.

This made a lot of sense to me as the validity period for the KTP would fit in perfectly with the validity period for KITAP.

I did ask for an e-KTP as my Indonesian wife was getting one. We went to get that at the same time as I got my KTP. That was the reason they gave for my wife getting an e-KTP, but me being given a paper KTP, at the same time - because I am only on my first KITAP, which has a time limit

There seems to be considerable confusion the regarding the KTP, my KTP is Blue that’s the colour for Indonesians, it was only valid for the period of my first KTP, this expired 4 March 2018, I now have my final KITAP, I now have to renew my KTP, now wether it’s an E- KTP or an e- KTP I will have what they give me, a piece of paper isn’t going to last a life time, I’m afraid they are so screwed up they will give you anything, just take what’s given and don’t worry about it, my wife has given up bothering as many Indonesians in our Kampung haven’t got a KTP at all, at the moment the KTP office for our area is a total shambles, so if you get something consider yourself lucky, just go with the flow, I really don’t know if this will ever be sorted at it appears a couple of billion has be fiddled by you know who

Mine is blue too. What I don't understand is why they would ever need two different colours anyway - it makes no sense! Setnya seems to have really screwed up the system and there doesn’t seem anyone available to put it right, I thought about starting a thread about how get KTP, but as the system is screwed and each area of the country goes off on different standards it would seem pointless

Last Monday I went to cipil and que to make my eKTP come at 6am and que no. at 21. Wait till near 10.30am, my wife getting impatient we when inside to ask what the actual number. It was 19 since 9am. At last my number was call and when they check the system show that the KK number only have my wife name. The clerk ask we to reprocess the KK to other counter. After ping pong from table to table at last we meet one of the boss who we know because he is the one 1st time I made my KTP. The funny thing he also seem do not sure of the prosedure but at least he is kind enought to get I think a IT guy to help to check. When he chek out KK do have my name in it but the front desk use the option WNI instead WNA. Unfurtunetly the front desk and 2 laptop after that, he still unable to click on WNI option. I think this IT guy do not have the correct admin password for it. At the end he ask me and wife to go back and come back 2 week time or if the system able to be access he will whatsapp my wife. So screw up....

Got my passport back today, now I’m thinking, I’ve got my extended KITAP is it worth the hassle of trying to renew my KTP, I’ve been here 20 years now and nobody has asked to see my passport or any other identication, so should I bother, my sympathies with those struggling to get a KTP from a totally screwed up system

With ITAP status, you are entitled to receive a Surket as well which will be valid until the "report date" identified on your KITAP. The Surket for an ITAP holder is issued by the Catatan Sipil office in each city. I reside in the city of Tangerang Selatan and 13 months ago after renewing my ITAP, I was issued a new Surket by the Catatan Sipil office in Tangerang Selatan.

Yes she did but it is only valid for 6 months at a time, my KTP expires Ist April, so I’ve a month to think about it, I’m also covered in Tangerang Selatan, we will see how it goes.
Just to say the Surket is lieu of a proper identity card

Well it does include traffic inconvenience and some travel, but it does save a considerable sum of money, and is relatively painless

My house is only about 5km away from the KanIm...(which can take anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours depending on traffic ). I still remember doing my first (current) KITAP myself. After recovering from the shock of 45 juta sticker price offer, decided to do it myself for 7.5 mill total. Took quite a long time though...4 months vs 1 month. Even the officers were pretty impressed by the time I got the KITAP.

This is the info from this forum by one of the member. That is why I want to get it before my 1st KITAP run out.

Everybody who is required to have a KTP, is required by law to replace it with an e-KTP.

But certain areas (as mine) are not ready yet and laugh out loud if the WNA requests one (they literally told me: WNI first!)

I do have an e-KITAP btw.

At the immigration office in Tangerang, when I submitted my request to change sponsor for my ITAP : the officers at that office requested that I update both my KTP & KK (Kartu Keluarga) with my current home address before that immigration office would accept my documents to process my request to change sponsor. My current home address is only 70 meters away from my previous home address : that address was used when I did my ITAP renewal. The process to simply update my address on my KTP & KK took 7 weeks at the Catatan Sipil office (civil registry) in my city, and I even know the head supervisor of the section which handled the update of my address. And yes : I was not issued a new KTP, but a new Surket.

my final KITAP is done. All the back and forth to Jkt and Bandung done. Just pick everything up at Immigration in Tasik on Monday.
No new info, all was smooth and prices as previously stated.
On a cheery note, circumstance required us to overnight in Bandung, then on the way home yesterday I did not have to go off road at all to avoid oncoming buses

That’s a point nosox has raised, as I live in Tangarang, I had to visit immigration at kemang, if you are doing this yourself and live in parts of Jakarta, you will have to visit immigration at Bandung, just to make life a bit more difficult

Ya lots of running around from Ciamis.
Immigration Tasikmalaya first to get all the basics done and pay, this was two trips
Then off to Bandung to get a letter signed. This required waiting in Bandung for a couple of hours
Then it was off to Jakarta to DirJen with the letters and was told 5 business days till it's ready
Home again
5 days later back to Jakarta pick up the stuff including a letter to Immigration Bandung which they did say we could just mail (I refrained from mentioning that they could mail it too) We were going back to Bandung anyway so dropped it off.
Monday back to immigration in Tasik to get everything including my passport

The Bandung visit is painless. When i did it,we arrived at an empty office at 11 am and they told to come back at 2pm. We returned at 12.30 to wait but they immediately handed over the papers for Jakarta.

During your first visit to DirJen in Jakarta : were you instructed to return to that same office to pick up the decision letter (Surat Keputusan) about your ITAP , then you were responsible to deliver that decision letter to the immigration office in Bandung?
