I thought I would write briefly on my 2nd KITAP renewal at Tangerang Immigration office, I think is other areas of Indonesia the process may vary slightly, a couple of things get to the office early as the immigration office car park fills up and closes, due to the law court being in close proximity, the street parking also becomes difficult, the second thing is should you still be at the office during lunch you will be asked to leave, there aren’t many good restaurants close by, so if yo drive off you will lose your parking.

I submitted my application 2 months before expiration of my first KITAP, ten days ago I gave
Immigration forms #24 and 25
Sponsor form
Guarantee form
I made two copies, these forms are supplied at Tangerang free of charge
I made 3 copies of the following, black and white
Passport, I/D page, MERP Page, KITAP Page
KK
KTP
KITAP I/D card
Sponsor letter from my wife
These were submitted ten days ago, yesterday I had my photo taken collected two large brown envelopes of documents, I now have to take them to: Kementerian Hukuk & Ham
Serang
I have to receive a letter from them which I then have to take the Kementerian office
Kuningham
I think I just go there for a chat, then return to Tangerang, we then pay for the KITAP and MERP

Regarding Serang, I haven’t done that yet but I’m told get there early and they may do the letter in one day, if not you may have to return in two days time, quite a drive,

I’m supposed to have a visit to the house, but they decided in my case not to bother

Probably do Serang and Kuningham next week and update

I have to say the immigration people I’ve met so far have been really helpful and pleasant, a nice change, no back handlers requested or given

Nice... so to summarize it can be done...and it looks simple as well although perhaps time consuming process with multiply visits. Was the cost for 2nd KITAP in range 12 jt?

Yes About 12.5 mill, yes it is a pain I drive from Pondok Cabe to immigration return, then drive to Serang return quite a drive, then go to Kuningham then drive to Tangerang, quite a bit of travel, we have our own car but even if you needed to hire a car or taxi you would save several million

Oh just to add about Serang, my Daughter got up early this morning without me knowing and went to Serang, got there at 8am waited 3 hours on the way home now, got the letter so Monday early off to Kuningham

How they say it no pain no gain.

My guess is if you have to hire a car it would be in range of 150-300 k rp /day. (Just a rough estimate). Still better than 70-80 jt quotes we get from some agents.

I said to my daughter why don’t you be an agent, she has a degree in law so it would be up her street, at 70 million, that’s more she makes a month in her small shop, she said she would be interested to know how much of that 70 mil goes to immigration if any

Went to Kuningan dropped off my documents, as usual had a job to find somewhere to park, the office is on the 10th floor, supposed to come back the next day, but they sent my daughter the documents next day by What’s App, so the following day off to Tangerang immigration for completion, paid 12,005,000 to at BNI bank close to immigration, KITAP to be collected next week, so briefly the time table was
1st Feb, submit passport and docs for KITAP
8th Feb, go to immigration for photo and letter for immigration at Serang
9th Feb, go to immigration Serang
12th Feb, go to immigration Kuningan
14th Feb, go to immigration Tangerang, pay for KITAP
21st Feb, collect passport and KITAP, process complete

A lot of driving around in heavy traffic, but if you’ve plenty of time and patience not a problem

Cost break down of KITAP
Jasa 50,000rp
MERP 1, 750,000rp
KITAP 12,000,000rp

Now try and renew my KTP which expires March 4

I have to renew my KITAP later this year so thanks for the info.
While we're on the subject, can anyone tell me about E-KITAP? How does it differ from the old method?

As far as I can see in my area, it doesn’t exist and is total chaos, my wife has been waiting, it must be 10 months now and only has a piece of paper she has to renew every six months, myKTP is for Indonesians it’s the wrong colour, I have to renew it March, so not very optimistic on how it’s going to go, there has been so much corruption involved with this it’s unreal, the people in charge of this were so stupid that they thought they could steal billions of rupiah is unbelievable, the people trying to sort this mess out don’t have any leadship to sort the muddle out, so it’s down hill all the way.

When I start the process I will let you know how it goes, but I think different areas of the country have different procedures and competency to do the process

Thanks for replying Anglian but I think we're talking about different things. The E-KTP you mention is indeed an embarrassing fiasco and my local office told me back in 2016 not to even bother trying to upgrade my standard foreigner's KTP to the E-version until I renew my KITAP this October.
I was asking about the E-KITAP. When it comes to renewing my KITAP do I submit my documents online or can I do it in person at the Immigration Office. What part of the KITAP process is carried out online?

Oops! Sorry

How can a KTP be the wrong colour? They all look the same? Apart from mine is paper and they would not let me have the new e-KTP (even though my wife was getting the e-KTP at the same time) as they said I could only have that when I get my "permanent" KITAP after I have help my first KITAP and KTP for 5 years, as e-KTP lasts forever and does not need to be renewed..

So I got stuck with the paper version (valid for 5 years), which I promptly laminated.
My KTP is the standard blue KTP, exactly the same as my wife used to have before the e-KTP was released. Only difference between it and an Indonesians, is for Kewarganegaraan, mine says Britania Raya.
As far as I am concerned they should all be the same, with the only difference from an Indonesian's is the Kewarganegaraan.

That is roughly 3 weeks which is not too bad. I am living in the UK now (until later in life when I do not have the need for the kind of money I earn by working in the UK), so when I need to renew my KITAP in 2020, I will have to do it during my annual leave. Admittedly 3 weeks is pushing it - I am only supposed to have up to 2 weeks at a time off) but hopefully the process might be a little bit quicker then.

Before that, I have the process of getting my wife a spouse visa to the UK to look forward to

E-KTP is not last forever for us WNA but base on KITAP expire date. Currently my KTP is green paper but coming Monday I will apply to change it to E-KTP as I read I need e-KTP to renew KITAP.

Immigration at Tangerang informed me my KTP was wrong but don’t worry about it, plus the photo of what colour it should be is shown on one of expat forum threads, expats have one colour and Indonesians another, the system is in such a muddle they are having to dish out bits of paper in lieu of proper IDs, it would be better just to forget the whole thing, but then lots of people would lose a useless job

Oh and to add to the confusion on my KK I’m a bachelor, so I’m living in sin with my wife, nobody has noticed that yet and I just cannot be bothered to change it

Be careful my friend...if the Gov't passes the law charging those having sex outside of marriage as a crime.....you may be going to jail.
Oh! just remembered.... you and I are eighty years old...we might be excluded...:tinfoil3:
