2019 Presidential Election and PKI

So, he is backing off any legal action? Going after a news service for republishing something from another would be like going after someone for sharing on FB or other social media. I think with the way the article is going around, he knows he is just feeding the interest by keeping it up. Perhaps he is thinking it will just go away with some time and he may be correct. Many things seem easily forgotten by the public with some time.

Are you OK?

Hahaha yes I am okay. Thanks. I was just writing some fear scenario, so people will vote for Prabowo. I was just trying to think of something to write on here. My biggest danger today is boredom.

To what extent is having a somewhat stable country good for business for Harry T. etc etc.? If everything descends into chaos as fast as some would think.

I saw today a former minister released from short sentence in Bandung prison for corruption. Maybe BA met with him:) and KPK were complaining he was not to be released until July. What a joke. People must just get numb listening to the same stories year after year and the country never really developing.

The upcoming presidential election will be pluralist vs Islamist in its formation. What that will actually look like I don't know. It will also either move towards greater pluralism or not. Based on the broader societal trend I would say not. This is not good for Indonesia, in the long term, in my opinion. I don't see the country repeating a mass slaughter of phantom communists at this time. A little hard to explain the disappearance of up to 1 million people who don't really exist.

Why vote for Prabowo when the only way to stop them is to vote for Jokowi? Let the people send the message. Of course, we may not even reach an election.

Harry will either be President or Vice President. It will be power and money with more control over the money. Both he and Prabowo learned under Suharto. Use the Islamist for the dirty work then keep them under wraps until needed again.

Money talks. Always has and probably always will.

How many actually existed in the past slaughters? I doubt you will see a repeat of the past played out in the same way. Bloodshed, yes, some. This would probably come in the form of resistance or the excuse of it when people start losing property and businesses. The complaint has always been the Chinese have been more successful then the Indonesians. Never mattered why, they always thought it was unfair.

General Tito is telling Indonesians (paraphrased) they need to speak up and stop being the silent majority (Muslims), if they don't want a theocracy. He believe most don't want to become a theocracy so they need to stop being silent and start speaking up. What are the chances of more people speaking up?

The battle lines are being drawn, for the Presidential election.

it starts when the only minister from the other side (PAN), kick out from the line up.

drawing the line is inevitable.

I am shocked! Here I thought JK was a honest, true person who was only interested benefitting the country and you seem to be saying he may be a snake in the grass. He was also SBY's VP for the first term.

I was shocked too but for a different reason ...... I thought they just propped him up when something stupid needed o be said.

Anies helicopter VIP treatment by Erwin Aksa said it all...

JK was the one who fiercely opposed Archandra Tahar, now VP Ministry of Resources and Minerals (ESDM)
How he greeted Anies said it all.

Well I hope this country doesn't go backwards. But it is difficult with the same cast of characters and them raising their kids in the same belief system.

Not sure what the problem is. If religion indeed causes difference in prosperity, why not change religion if that's important enough for the individual? It's not like race, gender or ethnicity, you can actually switch side here.

Changing religion is not an easy thing here. Truth is, if they changed religion they would lose their excuse for their poverty and it would make it more diffecult for the Islamic leaders to give reason to the fact they want Indonesia to be a one religion nation ruled under that religion. Of course, if they got that things would be worse but they will cross that bridge when they get to the river. The religion thing is only an excuse to blame someone else. It's a common practice here.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but over the years working here I have been able to pick out Christians in the work force, due there different approach to work and their approach too trouble shooting problems, I've noticed it with Arab Christians too, having worked with Lebanese and Egyptian Christians, their work ethic is totally different, I did make a mistake, I said to my daughter does mum mind you having a Christian boy friend, she said, He isn't Christian he is Muslim, Oh, I thought he was a Christian, No , she said, He went to Christian school, that's why his approach to work is different

Atlantis and Harry needs to go shake some hands. While it is Manado and they don't lean Islamic whatsoever, this is cause for celebration. Will others take notice and follow? Hopefully.

Angry Mob Protest Deputy House Speakers Visit To Manado.

The visit of House of Representatives deputy speaker Fahri Hamzah to Manado, North Sulawesi, has triggered violent protests, forcing police personnel to take extra security measures to prevent the situation from deteriorating further.

Who controls the clove cigarette business? This gives a clue to where the influence lies?

Not 100% sure that violent reactions is healthy for the country.

Angry mob does not necessarily mean violence. It can be loud without violence. The choice I'm afraid will be mostly in the hands of the Police. If they keep arresting non violent protestors after not doing anything with the mass protest and keep supporting small groups that want to break up the Ahok rallies, then it will be them that drive these protesters in a different direction.

At the same time, people are realizing they are not being heard. They see things are happening that is pulling their nation down and government seems to be turning a blind eye to it. Frustrations can lead a large group to do things they normally would not think of. They perceive their nation is under threat from those that are interested in including only those in agreement with them.

It's Indonesia. This will all just blow over and be forgotten or it will fester and grow. The radical mass protest has shown them that being loud and persistant gets results. It was a bad example but it worked for one so it should work for another. Of course if they would have acted earlier than perhaps we wouldn't be where we are today.
