Transfer talk:
Real Madrid does not intend to attract Neymar. This is what the winner of the Champions League emphasizes in a message on their website, in which it wants to put an end to the constant flow of hearsay and rumors. "Real Madrid does not intend to bid on Neymar," the Spanish club states. "We have an excellent relationship with Paris Saint-Germain. So if we are interested in one of their players, we will always approach the club first.".
The Brazilian player who was not very successful at this championship, moved for €222 million from FC Barcelona to PSG and thus became the most expensive footballer ever. Spanish media have been writing for months now, that Real Madrid would love to get him back to La Liga. (He played for Barcelona before.) Especially since their star player Cristiano Ronaldo left for Juventus.
But I wouldn't be surprised their interest has diminished quite a lot because of his attitude before the tournament (he refused to return from Brazil to Paris and has a bit the image of a party animal) and esp. his behavior during the games, and the satire that has triggered on social media. Real Madrid is a rather serious team that doesn't like bad boys too much. I don't think the Argentinian disappointment will have a big impact on Messi; he seems happy in Barcelona and does function very well in that team.
Besides Neymar, his club mate Kylian Mbappé (France) but also Eden Hazard (Belgium) are linked to Real Madrid. In an official statement the 'Royal' club recently denied having made an offer to the French player. But what about Hazard (currently playing for Chelsea)? It seems Barcelona is also interested.
One of the best keepers of the world, Courtois (who did quite a good job in this tournament, has played for Athletico on a loan basis, and who we will see play tonight), is also talk of the town in the transfer world; but Chelsea wants 'too much'.
