I feel its all about quality rather than quantity - I used to get sick of one hit wonders on the other site asking the same old questions about the same old "I want to get married" and "How do I get a KITAS" type bullshit questions, to which they would then vanish never to be seen again. The trend being that all the interesting threads were contributed to by a hardcore membership of about 50 people.

I think the vision for this place is that we can do both - that is, we can have a hardcore membership that participates in interesting discussions AND we can politely help new people with their basic questions, without unduly taxing the folks who have been around a long time.
Remember that one of the previous difficulties was that people asked the same questions over and over because it was so hard to find information in old threads, and then to know whether or not it was up to date.
Slowly but surely, I think we'll deal with that here by have the "repeat stuff" stickied and clearly dated/updated. Like this. (It's still a work in progress but given how new this board is, I'd say we are making pretty fast progress.) So hopefully new people can find info easily - but if they can't, the old-timers will know that they can just point to the "Info and Advice" sticky in each of the main categories, and not spend a lot of time doing research or re-writing well-known info.
That's probably better for the long term health of the site. After all, even long-term members may leave eventually; it's the nature of expat life. While it is true that newbies often get their answers and leave (without so much as a "thanks" sometimes - that is a pet peeve of mine), some of them stick around and eventually become part of the core group, replacing those who dropped out.

You definitely can't have an internet forum without Hitler. I think he's the god of the internet, countless threads have invoked his name, and countless more will.
Come on, Hong’s a nice guy (I think). You can ignore his post if you don’t like the topic. Nevertheless, his thread (where it went on and on from one person) has one of the most views in the entire forum. The number of views surprised me, so I looked on what was posted there, and I liked some of his story (not all, but especially ghost stories). I think he would make a good pastor, but instead he’s in a different field. Anyway, don’t you think a community is not complete without a preacher? Indeed, we already have Dan which we can consider as the Islamic preacher. I think we can consider Hong as the Christian preacher? Too bad, he probably doesn’t know we are now in another community.

It was a nice thought from you anyway. Ultimately most of them will be aware of our forum. We are working very actively toward this goal. I am pretty confident that Hong will hear from us soon.

Good to see you finally found us, and welcome! I agree that there are quite a few more posters that are on the old forum that still haven't found us. But nothing spreads the news faster than word of mouth!
However, the other forum apparently has banned the words "expatindo.org" so if you do want to tell people, you may have to modify it with spaces in between or something.

It's not like if honesty was a family quality, John madden. The editing of the thread "A round of banning" by wm two weeks after being posted, to remove another blattant lie they were peddling, talks volume.
For the record, and for those who remember it, the unedited version had this interesting bit: "Before leaving, it appears most moderators began editing, deleting, and removing several posts including those which were not their own"
Wot? "No more editing, deleting and removing of posts including those which were not their own" by the Mod team"??? The Boy would have lied and defamed us and Mommy would try to discreetly clean the mess while no-one is looking? What is this "Sabotage" all about then, wm? A bit of courage and honesty is in order me think.

Most users ever online was 2,257 at 1 week ago on 1 week ago.

Hmmm this might explain it...I was in private conversation with somebody about an ex-WNI IMTA, and I sent a PM to her about this forum...but later on I checked on it this is what i looks like:

Perhaps it has so many viewsfrom people looking with the hope that someone else actually contributed to the thread and of course, the OP opening it so many times on hisown. When something gets to be so one sided, so self serving, it'stime to let it die. JMHO and here I am allowed to have one.

I just had a look at the users online over there. It showed 18, but only 3 of those had made posts and received rep. Yeah, dead, unless they have a sudden influx of new users who want to make ten or so posts a day and mine all the old posts for info to answer other new user posts.
