@admin I expect people in this forum are all grown up and smart enough to differ hoax and no hoax. Thank you for giving me a warning. Remember, once in the history a man was sentenced to death because he said the earth is round.
You'd expect that, but unfortunately, some don't, including those who insist on spreading such content despite having been warned and had to be moderated.

PS: No known record exists of anyone ever having been sentenced to death because they said the earth was round, so once again, you were "Missinformed".

You need to watch a documentary series in Netflix. You will learn about human history. Check out Giordano Bruno. I learned about him from the documentary by Neil deGrasse Tyson.

I have never been missinformed. I like to read, therefore I have lot of questions and opinions.

I am not against covid vaccine. I am against mandated vaccine for the reasons I have explained in my earlier posts. People should be given a chance to choose untill they know for sure what they are dealing with and the vaccine is 100% safe, just like other vaccines.

Giordano Bruno was not burned at the stake because he claimed the Earth was round. By 1600, most already accepted that the world was round. Not in the least because Columbus' trip to America was over 100 years before that. If that is what you got from Netflix, you have been, once again, "Missinformed".

At First, they said we all will be safe if we take vaccine. And then, they found out that we still can be positive. They said again, we will not get sick. Not long after, they found out you too can be severely ill. And they said it will prevent death. But people die. They said it because they have health conditions or the vaccine hasn’t kicked in yet but isn’t that what happened in the first place? People die of covid because of existed health conditions and old age?

I'm sorry, who is "they"? Not a single vaccine researcher claimed any of those things that you wrote. Not a single vaccine was found to be 100% effective, and no one claimed that. Once again you spread your misinformation.

I prefered to believe the information coming from Mr. Neil deGrasse Tyson form Nasa vs Mr. Dafluff from Expatindo.

And they are the ones whom you get the information about vaccine from. The ones who telling you that the vaccine will make you safe and adjusted to “the vaccinated can be positive”. …. FYI, one of my friend, who is a nurse here, was one that received the early mass vaccine. She volunteered to be one of the test subject. (Yes they are still testing it eventhou it was already available for public). She is part where they (the researcher) realized that the vaccinated can still be positive, because she was positive covid. Fortunately she has no symptoms. Mind you, there are many people that has no symptoms as well. And … many development after that.

I assure you I read and not misinformed. 😀

Now, go get the vaccine if you are confident about it but dont mandate other people to get this vaccine. No one stopping anyone to get the vaccine.

@dafluff here. The article for you to read. To me : He was exiled and so on… because he had an idea/opinion that did not go well with the main stream and the one in power. And… of course someone had to make it right for the church.

And the other lesson from the documentary : history repeats itself.

So for our vaccine discussion, let this vaccine stay a choice until everyone know for sure where the virus came from, its nature and behaviour and long enough for the vaccine to be tested for the long term side effect.

That's your problem. It's not a matter of "belief" in information, it's a matter of "understanding" information. And clearly, you DON'T understand the information, even the information you provide. FYI, Giordano Bruno wasn't a martyr because he believed the earth was round (which was already widely accepted as @dafluff pointed out). He was a martyr because he believed the cosmos was infinite and the universe didn't revolve around Earth. You don't need to believe us, just look it up.

The article for you to read. To me : He was exiled and so on… because he had an idea/opinion that did not go well with the main stream and the one in power. And… of course someone had to make it right for the church.

No, no and no. This was a man of SCIENCE who was chastised by idiots who believed in fairy tales. It just so happens that now there are a lot more people of science but I assure you that if the vast majority of people nowadays were like you, the scientists behind the vaccines would also be martyrs.

Doesn't matter where you get your information, you are clearly incapable of processing it, as your very next post proves:

If you actually read the article you posted, you will see exactly what has already been stated: he was not killed because he said the earth was round. Here is the relevant part for you:

The Roman Inquisition listed eight charges against Bruno. His belief in the plurality of worlds was just one. The others involved denying the divinity of Jesus, denying the virgin birth, denying transubstantiation, practicing magic, and believing that animals and objects (including the Earth) possessed souls. You could fairly call Bruno a martyr to the cause of religious freedom, but his cosmic worldview was neither a deduction nor a guess. It was a philosophical corollary of his heterodox belief that God and souls filled all of the universe.

As you can see, none of those charges were because the earth was round. Seems that you "Missunderstood" what you saw on Netflix, just like you "Missunderstood" what you read in the article.

And the other lesson from the documentary : history repeats itself.

If the history that is repeating is where ignorant people without an ounce of scientific training or understanding are harming themselves and others, then yes you are correct, it is.

The ignorant people are those who “believe” but refused to consider fact, data and source of data. I am sure Neil deGrasse Tyson has done his research far better than you. And you insisted for me to “understand” the matter from you but ignore the “presentation” by Neil deGrasse Tyson. Oh well … 😎😎

And… in the case of Bruno, who was the ignorant here? Bruno or those who sent him to the stake with the accusation of him being ignorant and dangerous to the society because he provided a different idea against the mainstream and the people in power? Time will tell…

Read back to the comment I made, once in the history a man was sentenced to death for calling the earth. I was not into discussion of Bruno himself. But being sarcastic that people do get “punished” when the idea does not sit well with authority.

@El_Goretto, the scientist behind the vaccine will not be a martyr. Their job is to find solution for the pandemic. so whatever their finding, we will take it. So far they have done a marvelous job.. but it is not perfect yet. Too many loopholes and uncertainty that has not been disclosed.. but the authority push it hard to public ignoring the fact that the vaccine itself has not been gone through enough clinical test for safety. So, people like me would like to have a choice. I do not against the vaccine.. but mandating the vaccine is just wrong!

I give up.

I hate to break it to you MissNaughty, but "because Neil DeGrasse Tyson said so" is not airtight proof of anything. Granted, there is nothing intrinsically wrong with citing experts - if I use the Mayo Clinic as a source for my info, I deserve to be taken more seriously than if I quote the Daily Mail. But NDT is actually pretty well known for getting his facts wrong at times. I'd look for independent, respected confirmation of what he says if I were you.

Agreed, what is more, he is speaking outside of his field of expertise; he is an astrophysicist, not a historian. And in recent years he is arguably more an entertainer than anything else. Plus, in the context of creating a television show there is a strong impulse to interpret or embellish details for entertainment value.

And you can't even properly read and comprehend the articles you yourselves cited, so who is really the ignorant one?

I doubt NDT even said this, she probably just "Missunderstood" what was presented. Magellan circumnavigated the earth in 1522, ~80 years before Bruno was executed. So I doubt NDT could conclude that someone in 1600 could've been executed for what was by then common knowledge. If he did, then this is one of his greatest blunders, and should definitely be included in that article.

PS for "Missinformed": Circumnavigation noun: the action or process of sailing or otherwise traveling all the way around something, especially the world.

The articles I cited earlier just to show you that I am aware there are sides that questioning the program, the article cited was not intended to support my argument. It is for me to tell the readers here that I always read both sides. I may quoted wrong statement about the case. It was not flat and round statement, but center of the universe. But what I am trying to say .. that NDT presented a case where a scientist was exiled and then executed because he had a new idea that against the mainstream and the one in power.
