AirAsia X Berhad’s Debt Restructuring Plan Notice to Creditors for Proof of Debt
Dear xxxxxx,

Thank you for your patience as we continue to progress with the regulatory process to restructure our business affairs after submitting an application for a debt restructuring plan to the High Court of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We are pleased to formally inform you that the restructuring process is progressing as planned, and we are now inviting all scheme creditors, including passengers, to participate in the proof of debt (“POD”) exercise.

For the purpose of the POD, you are required to prove your debts. To facilitate this process, we are sharing with you a document that contains a letter and the POD form that explains the requirements of the POD exercise. Each passenger is also assigned a unique E-filing ID which will help us to organize the submissions.

Please complete the POD form and provide all supporting documents, and return the complete pack of documents via hard copy and email by 7 April. You may find more information and details of the POD xxxxx

Your assigned E-filing ID is: xxxxx (please indicate this E-filing ID in your POD form).

Click xxxxx to download the POD form.

Following this, within the next two months, you will receive an Explanatory Statement outlining the information relating to the creditors' meeting and the voting process, including any actions you may wish to take.

We understand that these are challenging times for everyone and appreciate your understanding. We thank you for your ongoing support.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected].

Thank you!

Regards,
AirAsia X Team

No, I did not receive that message. I am really confused...
Did it come by email?

I am in Europe at the moment. I think it makes no sense for me to send documents to Malaysia as hard copy for money that I might never get back from them...so, I guess my money is just lost? Or is there anything (realistic) that I can do?

One more question: Did you chose refund? Maybe this is why you received the mail and I did not. Because I chose credit account so that I got a credit which I can use for booking flights within the next two years (only problem is that it seems not possible to use this credit account at the moment...). But maybe this POD form is only for those who chose refund instead of credit account!?

Yes, it came by email, and I disputed outstanding airfares owed via my bank which resulted in almost immediate (a few days) payment/reversal, as opposed to taking credits. Another email yesterday.

Note in the following "including passengers who have pending bookings, credit shell..."

AirAsia X Berhad’s Debt Restructuring Plan

Notice to Passengers for Proof of Debt Exercise
Dear Guests,

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is one of the most significant challenges that the global economy has ever faced. The pandemic has left a detrimental impact and it is threatening the survival of the airline industry. All airlines around the world are in a similar position and must consider ways to overcome the situation.

AirAsia X Berhad (AAX; Airline Code D7) has taken the initiative to manage the situation to restructure its business affairs by submitting an application for a debt restructuring plan to the High Court of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The restructuring exercise requires us to review every aspect of our operations in order to put in place a number of measures to ensure the airline can recover faster when international borders reopen and travel restrictions ease.

As part of the process, we have contacted our creditors, including passengers who have pending bookings, credit shell and RM499 pass on 17 March 2021 with a letter that explains the Proof of Debt (POD) exercise. This is the next step in the restructuring exercise.

The purpose of the POD exercise is to verify and reconfirm the complete amount owed to creditors as recorded in AAX Group’s books and records as at 30 June 2020. This is to ensure consistency and accuracy of information and because there may be, among others, amounts claimed by creditors which have not been recorded by AAX Group.

It is our intention that once the restructuring scheme is approved and we are back to “business as usual”, the airline will be in a position to extend any entitlements back to our creditors. Also upon a successful restructuring scheme, credits may be reinstated for future bookings with AAX on its discretion.

The deadline for POD submissions is 7 April 2021. Any creditor who misses this deadline will still be included in the POD exercise. If any creditor has issues accessing the commissioner of oath, we will still accept your submission via postal mail or email to us per the contact details set out below. Relevant passengers who booked through travel agencies’ distribution channel but received the email about the POD submission, may contact the travel agencies’ appointed contact for more information.

We thank you for your understanding and continued support during these challenging times and will keep you updated on developments as they occur. Please note this is just a standard process required by courts and if successful, AAX will be flying again and welcoming you back on our flights with your existing tickets.

You may visit our FAQs page here for more clarification and view the sample form here to assist you in filling it accordingly. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected].

Thank you very much for your patience and support.

Kind Regards
Benyamin Ismail

A friend was in the same situation, and also got it reversed. Hard times.

I am more annoyed with their app as even after the send you the number to verify it is you, the number they give you for some reason doesn't work.

Does anyone know how to contact AirAsia in the meantime? The only option I found is by AVA (which seems only to be machine answering and the machine did not even forward me to a real person after the booking number could not be recognized by this AVA machine...so absolutely not helpful...).

I had booked about 7 return tickets cgk to Australia, 5 for my self and partner and 2 for my daughter for holiday and got some letter about the Proof of Debt and being a creditor. I was so disappointed and pissed off by the whole episode I didn't bother persuing it also feeling as though it would be a waste of effort and time.
Anyhow, the short please. Did anyone ever get anything back from lost AirAsia tickets / bookings?
.

Yes full refund to credit card
Well thanks for that.. I have sent an email because I read that

Tbh it took me almost 2 years and dozens and dozens of constant emails 3 times a week to 5+ different addresses
Just for 900rb
For a flight THEY cancelled. Not me
And I had insurance

I disputed Airasia's charges for cancelled flights with my bank to receive all tickets reimbursed within about a fortnight of my complaint - a total of around $1000.

Unfortunately my Australian bank seems useless / unable to deal with anything that goes wrong outside Australia. Including broken local ATM that didn't give the cash when I withdrew funds... I went into the bank (BNI ) who said you have to contact the card issuer. Then I lodged a transaction dispute with the Aus bank. They got back to me and said the BNI denied there was any issue with the ATM even though I had witnesses including the satpam who was guarding the ATM.
I guess I can search all the transactions for Air Asia but I know it's a full time job trying to get any action from banks and or Airlines whether Indonesian or Australian.

Just luck and perseverance and they blatantly lied insisting it had been refunded in to card then to bank account then admitting they lied etc etc.

Eventually just sheer determination got lucky I suppose and got it back

Wasn't even any particular name or email

Sometimes one person seemed helpful then would stop replying
Just normal customer service email
