Pandemic - Emergency Stay Permit Expiration

Is your D212 social visa a 1 year visa that is expiring on August 12? If so you probably have to apply for a new D212 visa or try to convert to a ITAS (KITAS).

I was in a similar situation with my D212 visa expiring in mid August. The immigration office only gave me 3 more weeks for my extension which was 7 week short of the D212 visa expiration. The immigration staff just said to keep doing extensions but I think that's bad advice considering my visa would expire. So I started D212 to KITAS conversion.

Thank you for your reply.

My D212 social, 1-year visa expires in January 2021. That's why I'm confused.

Maybe the local office had a mishap?

My experience with the local immigration office has shown they are not informative or helpful. The initiative to move some immigration services online in the last few years was a great step forward to be able to bypass them. But with this COVID-19 emergency everything is messed up.

August 3rd?? Huh?

Again, it's a grace period of 30 days from July 13th in which you have until Aug 12 to leave or extend. My understanding is you get 30 days more from Aug 12th. People applying now so they know it's done and can relax.

People who apply Aug 12th might run the risk of them being too busy and not being in the system by Aug 13th
If it is 30 days from date of applying then of course everyone would wait until last minute
But it's like any other extension. It's 30 days extra from the date of expiry of last one ie 12 Aug.

That's how my agent sees it too
If they only extend it until Aug 12 what's the point in paying to extend. You have until then anyway for free

The grace period ends Aug 12. That's when you leave or when your new 30 days starts

Not sure why you mention Aug 3rd?

According to Kantor Imigrasi, Jakarta Selatan. the period from July 13 to Aug 12 is the grace period, it's not an extension or new emergency stay permit. Which means that if you apply for VOA or Visit Visa extension today (29 July) your 30 days will start on 29 July and end 27 Aug.

Ok so means 30 days from day you apply which means 2nd week of Aug gonna be chaos.
By then will be yet another new rule anyway. But they have said people can re extend many times?

Correct! That's what happened to me.

Hi, newbie here, felt I should share my experience because maybe it will clarify for somebody else.

I am in Bali, on a B211A visit visa that expired in May. I am a citizen of the USA and there are flights available. I was previously told (in a DM exchange on Instagram with Direktorat Jendral Imgrasi a few weeks ago) that I should leave Indonesia by August 11. Of course, rumors are flying, and something about the revised letter from July 22 made me feel reassured. I went to Kantor Imigrasi Denpasar yesterday with my sponsor, to confirm my options.

The official at Denpasar Immigration told us that I could choose EITHER to take an available flight home and leave Indonesia by August 11, OR I could get 30-day visa extensions until the pandemic is over. Basically, it was "you can leave if you want, but we will give you 30-day extensions until the pandemic is over."

This is a... generous interpretation of the official statements, so it seems to me that Denpasar is kind of setting its own rule on this issue.

To clarify, the 30-day extensions will expire 30 days from application date. So yes, every 30 days it seems there will be a rush at immigration, unless people intentionally stagger their applications. (This is a sensible reason to apply earlier than the August 11 deadline--to get on a different schedule than other applicants and avoid the crowds.)

We also asked about the possibility of the telex visa, the ability to apply online for a new B211A without leaving Indonesia. The official said yes, this will become possible. He estimated that the online portal will become active sometime around early August. I do not know if this is a pandemic thing, or a forever thing, but if it's the latter, it will change the long-term visitor situation dramatically (no more visa runs to Singapore?).

We picked up the forms to fill out at home. I guess I will do 30-day extensions for a few months, until the online visa portal opens and stabilizes (after all the visa-free people apply for visit visas?). Then, assuming it still seems like the right move, we will apply for a new Visit Visa to get 6 months of relative certainty.

Why not get a KITAS? Or are you just on a very long holiday?
I don't think they are going to be giving 6 month "visit visa"
In fact on the contrary they are trying to clamp down on digital nomads who just fly in and out for months at a time and don't have work permits or the "proper" stay permits
Anyway that's another discussion

Just don't rely on that scenario and depend on it

Dear Centurion,
Thanks for uploading the circular here. I have several questions, may someone here can help, or please share information/clarification obtained from Imigrasi officers in Indonesia.

1) Does the new circular also include expired IMK/MERP of KITAP sponsored by WNI wife? My husband cannot come to Jakarta soon or before 60 days grace period ends due difficulty to get exit and re-enter approval from Malaysia Immigration, the country where he works.

2) What does technical problem mean in this circular...?

3) Also read number 3, does it mean the Guarantor/ Sponsor can apply ITAS/ITAP extension for the mentioned holders without being present in Indonesia, and no need for those holders to re-enter soon/being tolerated? In this case how to get permit attached to their passports...by sending passport from oversea to Indonesia, or sending permit to Indonesia Embassy in the country residence of the holder?

4) Is the Wife sponsor allowed to apply for ITK/MERP extension at Kantor Imigrasi without the WNA husband being present in Indonesia?

5) Anyone has experience sending passport from oversea to Indonesia? Which courier is trustable?

I am trying to contact Ditjen Imigrasi through instagram too.
Thank you very much for your help.

EXCLUSIVE INFORMATION: Dirjen Imigrasi Online Application System has just opened 15 minutes ago. Applicants can apply for Telex for SosBud, Telex for Family Kitas, Telex for Investor KITAS and so on.

Valid only for the one in Indonesia-does not work for embassies abroad.

The daily quota for each category of applicants seems low or maybe I'm just over estimating the demand.

If and when I become eligible for a KITAS, I will apply for one. Right now, my purposes in Indonesia fit the guidelines for the B211A visa.

This is, according to direktorat jenderal imigrasi, exactly what they are doing.

I have never worked in Indonesia. This does not describe me. I had a "proper" permit, which was my B211A. Then a pandemic happened.

I'm a visitor in this country, here by the grace of Indonesian Immigration. So I'm relieved to hear that as the emergency stay permits expire, they are opening domestic applications for new B211A visas.

Thanks for the advice though!

Probably just a trial today, however application were possible according to the counter.
Also in the Instagram Imigrasi says the deadline is 20th August for departure.
Direktorat Jenderal Imigrasi's Instagram says "Online onshore visa application will be open on 3 August 2020. Onshore visa application can be made in Indonesia by foreigners: 1. Visit Visa (Visitor's Visa); 2. Temporary Stay Permit (VITAS). ... Or you can leave Indonesia or return to your home country before 20 August 2020."

So online applications officially begin on 3 August.

And it seems the "grace period" has been effectively extended until 20 August?

If anybody is having a rough day, you should go read the comments and replies on ditjen_imigrasi's Instagram post. It feels like we've all been given a real treat.:giggle:

Immigration guidance changes with the weather. Just like the emergency stay permits that were supposed to be good until the pandemic was over, but suddenly they came to an end with a 30 day notice to leave the country. People need to prepare for an uncertain future.

Yes but that 30 day notice now became 30 balinese days which is 42

Like the Jakarta "will be there in 5mins" means 55 mins

When they say "Onshore visa application can be made in Indonesia by foreigners" does it mean that there will be a new online facility for foreigners to apply? Because on https://visa-online.imigrasi.go.id/ the visa application is not made "by foreigners" but by a local Indonesian. I.e. as of now only a local Indonesian can apply for a visa or rather invite someone for a visit visa (for a fee of 200,000).

It would be great if the visa-online section allows foreigners to do the online visa application for Visit Visa. Most of us don't have close Indonesian friends who can do this, so agents are stepping in to "help" apply and ask for 3-5 million though it costs's them Rp.200,000 only and a bit of their time, of course.

I wouldn't mind if the imigrasi charged 1 mil or even more for foreigners to do it ourselves instead of paying a agent (essentially a stranger) 5 million to do it.

I don't think this is accurate, I think most of us here do have Indonesian friends who could be a sponsor if needed. It has long been this way, only the tourist visas of 30 days or 60 days allow someone to be in Indonesia without a sponsor, every option for longer requires an Indonesian sponsor to claim responsibility for the foreigner. Should they relax it as a pandemic exception? I personally don't think so. If you don't have even one single local friend, why are you staying in Indonesia for the pandemic? There are very few cases where it is completely impossible for a person to return to their passport country, and using an agent remains an option.
