Wake Up Indonesia

.
At Immigration Bali. Luckily the keeping a distance rule (of eh.... 1.5 foot? 1,5 decimeter?) is followed well.

Good grief! 😐 Like I said...Wake Up Indonesia! 😲

Do you think the loud speaker is not blaring because there is no activity there or because there is no church services across the street? Speaking of mosque, the government may not be suspending any activity until shopping malls are also closed. At the moment, MUI is just suggesting people to pray at home. A famous cleric is saying something like what's the use of closing mosque if malls remain open. Some people will make the excuse of not going to the mosque but instead they go to malls.
It is 6:20 PM now and not a peep all day. While I have a larger Mosque near me, there are another half dozen within hearing distance. Nothing from any of them today. Church services are only in the morning and the bigger Mosque normally blast all during those services and then goes back to the normal. Nothing all day so I am thinking it is not because there was no church service. I bet a wake up early for lack of noise.

It is highly irresponsible of Indonesian Immigration to force travellers to crowd like that. Imigrasi should simply WAIVE all overstay penalties for the duration of the crisis. There should be NO required trips to kantor imigrasi to fill out forms, pay money, etc. This puts both travellers and imigrasi staff at risk of catching and spreading CV. There are many borders closed and flights cancelled. Each person should assess his/her risk and travel situation without fear of having to pay the world's highest overstay penalties (usd $70 per day). My suggestion to all travellers who are stuck in indo or think it would be safer for them to stay put is to simply IGNORE immigration rules during this time of crisis. Do whatever you think is best for your health and safety. Make no trips to offices to pay money and fill out forms. At the airport when you leave when you feel it is safe, simply REFUSE TO PAY any overstay fines. Notify your embassy prior to departure. There are thousands in this situation. Are they gonna put thousands of you overstayers in Jail for trying to stay safe during coronavirus?
All responsible countries and governments are telling people to isolate, stop unnecessary travel, etc, while Indonesian Imigrasi is telling us to come down to the office, stand in long lines, and fill out forms. Don't do it!

They will have no qualms holding you for overstay fines. The embassies will not get involved because they can do nothing with Indonesian laws. I think your suggestion of ignoring their current requirements is foolish at best. I guess you could just keep staying and paying until you reach the maximum if you find that more beneficial.

Just for your information. Your suggestion that people break the law is not allowed on this site.

Of course, that's just where the testing kits are. No kits means no coronavirus?!
Looking at Lampung where I am located, I can assure you that a couple of the areas are rather remote so I doubt they had test kits laying around. There are only 4 Hospitals throughout Lampung qualified to test or treat so many have traveled to them. It would still show where they came from.

Every person has the duty to stand up to stupid or unjust laws. If this forum is too afraid to allow criticism of unjust laws then Fu^k it. Get some gonads and principles.

Anyone is free to criticize any law they please. Just not suggest any laws are broken. If someone wants to stand up up and defend what they feel is unjust they can do just that. You just shouldn't be suggesting they do that if it breaks a law.

On a similiar note...church services (Christian, not sure about others) streamed service online here in Jakarta today! ⛪👍

Well said! Someone should screenshot this and send it to President, Health Minister, Governor, and General of Immigration.

Hi everyone, does anyone know what are the protocols or where to get the covid-19 testing if ever you need to get tested? Just asking out of curiosity. Thanks

Obviously all countries have their peculiarities and money talks of course: The Germans also have been subject to far-reaching restrictions. For example, all hotels are closed to tourists due to the crisis.

However, the Thai monarch and his entourage are staying at the four-star Grand Hotel Sonnenbichl in the fashionable and expensive winter sports resort of Garmisch-Partenkirchen (famous for its Neujahrsspringen on New Year's Day).

The hotel has received special permission from the local authorities to house Rama X, I saw on Focus.de. That is allowed because it concerns a homogeneous group that does not change its composition, the authorities stated. Therefore the premises do not count as a hotel, but as a residential home.

The Thai king, has settled with twenty women in the Bavarian winter sports resort, among others. Despite the restrictions that apply in the German state, he also makes regular trips around the city. They ride the streets by bicycle for instance.

The 'unteachability' according to Citymapper. Based on the movements of 20 million people divided over larger cities. 100=normal planned amount of trips

1372

As you can see, in quite some cities they have problems following the governmental advice and obeying the measures ...

"It's good to be the king!"

.....rural areas, which don't really have much traffic to large cities as a rule (ie. people don't go to the kampungs everyday, they go back once a year during Lebaran).

And yes, what we expected (and feared) started. The exodus has begun, thousands of people are leaving, by train or other means.

Makes perfect sense of course; places of employment, restaurants and malls in Jakarta are closing/closed. Who knows how long that will take, and the Lebaran mudik could be halted; to be sure better already start Ramadan in the kampung then...

If this trend continues, it will be a bit of a catch22, not only for possible infections but also the duration of closure of restaurants, shops, etc. It could be quite some time before normal life picks up again.

Will it be halted?
I saw in Jakarta Post an article stating that Jokowi says he will NOT lockdown Indonesia.

Will it be halted?

Yes, quite some malls close down (e.g. Mal Kelapa Gading right now).
See here:

And many restaurants here are closed as well. It even gets more and more complicated to order certain food online, obviously since those restaurants are located in malls.

Lockdown goes much further; then you can't leave your home anymore unless for groceries, maximum two people together in a car or on the street, all hotels and resorts closed, etc. etc.

I meant will mudik be halted... and we know the answer to that- malls closing merely helps people to clear off to their islands/ homes/ villages and spread it :(
