One of my pet peeves.

I have a group of friends who are a lot into the gue/loh thing but I still have a hard time with that. Sometimes a loh slips out unexpectedly though haha

The latest thing these days is "I, You", so English.

"I mau makan, you mau makan apa?"

Sounds weird as hell for me but I somehow prefer it to the lu/gue thing going on.

That's something I usually hear with Indonesians of Chinese decent though but maybe it's starting to catch on for the rest too.

It's kinda weird, somehow Indonesian is the only language referred to in Indonesian when speaking English. The proper word for Bahasa Indonesia in English is Indonesian.

No one says "I can speak Deutsch" or "Yeah, my Français is not bad"....so why do people say, "I speak Bahasa Indonesia". Saying "I speak Bahasa" is even more silly.

It's the same as saying Chinese Mandarin or American English I guess?
