The obligatory "How will you spend Christmas?" Thread.

Do most of you celebrate Christmas while in Indonesia with the ritual gift giving, Christmas lunch/dinner, family gathering etc?

How will you spend Christmas?

I’ll be in the US this year. Previous years we’d do a nice dinner at a hotel.

Doing NYE in a hotel in San Diego, and then a week’s cruise.

We will be in the village blowing it up with fireworks like all of our nejbors. I will be playing Santa again this year at a couple of parties seeing I'm the only white fat guy with a with a white beard. We are already late to put up our lights seeing here you are to do it before the end of Oct. Already have xmas songs downloaded . The only thing left to get is cookies and fanta for when the kids come around singing.

Christmas lunch at a nice hotel with the wife and then usually roped into some sort of church service (a power nap session for me).

I have been saying at Christmas for the last 5 years that we will do lunch at a nice hotel but it never happens.
The day usually ends up more of a church thing. This year I will book early and make it happen!
Make the day more more akin to how I celebrated Christmas in Australia.

This year I will converge with my husband and son at my mother-in-law's house in Ohio. (I will fly in from Hawaii, my son will fly in from Philadelphia, and my husband will fly in from Jakarta.) It will be a very traditional midwest American Christmas with my husband's family, whom I rarely see. I'm not big on either tradition or cold weather, but the family is super-nice, so I'll manage.

that's certainly one way to put it
my holidays are going to be pretty generic this time after dad's retirement. intense gaming sessions and the dinner are the only two things i'm looking forward to.

Last Christmas Eve went to church, in Jakarta, then Christmas Day with family and food. This year we are going out for Chinese food on Christmas Eve and getting some take out Chinese for Christmas day meal. I/we don't really want a big turkey dinner with all the trimmings. We will also attend church on Christmas Day. So, church, food and maybe a couple of movies.

Depending on how long my KITAS renew takes, the wife and I will go to Solo. If it takes a bit, we'll probably go around New Years.

For the first time in 5 years, I'm going back to America to see the family!

3 weeks... Two weeks in SoCal, and then one week in New Zealand as it's kinda on the way back. Oddly, I won't really have a Christmas. Leaving LAX on the evening of the 23rd of December, I have a 12 hour layover on the the island Roratonga in the Cook Islands. I fly out of Rarotonga late on the 24th, and after a short flight, I arrive in Auckland on the 26th. The dateline steals Christmas!

Similar thing for New Years. I land in Bangkok from NZ at 12:55 AM on 1 January... I'll be in the air for the countdown...
