I took my cats in the cabin at the time. They behaved better than the babies in seat numbers 16B, 22F, 28C and 35E. That seems to be a computer generated algorithm these days; where to put the little screamers so everybody in the cabin has the same amount of nuisance.

I'm with you jstar...they should have a compartment in cargo for those noise-makers.....

I was on a flight JKT-DPS recently when the lady in the next seat to my wife refused the baby-belt and wouldn't allow her precious to be strapped-in...yet the cabin attendant told my wife to put her bag under the seat in front in case of an accident.

I visualised an aborted V1 take-off with babies screaming through the air and left splattered on the front bulkhead.....not pretty....but my wife's handbag would be OK...

I see in today's Daily Express and Mail, BA dumped two passengers on some isolated island in the middle of the Atlantic somewhere, reason the passenger wanted upgrading from steerage to first class, he says he just wanted to stretch his legs, well there is plenty of room in storage to wander around without having to crash First Class, still we will see how this develops, he says he was treated like a slave, if I recall slaves were just tossed overboard( sorry I cannot give the exact ref, my iPhone just shows the papers name)

I'm really not understanding this power tripping mentality in the US airline industry. Returning a flight to gate just because a passenger had to go pee is the height of absurdity and stupidity. Have they lost all sense of reason? No wonder they embrace becoming a police state so freely.

My daughter had the same request while sitting on a tarmac in a China Airlines one day. After the attendant quickly assessed that we were no where near take off, she let my daughter use the bathroom. Any other outcome is insane.

It's not all insensitive, bottom line management. The cabin crews of American air carriers are most all union workers comfortable with mindlessly, arrogantly following their negotiated work rules -- rules largely in place for the benefit of the workers, regardless of the impact upon the customers. Common sense or courtesy seems to have been bumped from all American carriers.

United's CEO is to testify to Congress next week...maybe some new regulations can come out of that ...or maybe the President, who has been busy telling Americans they'll be great again, can boast about another signing executive order...

After the US Postal Service, the Airlines probably have the worst reputation? Although it seems people working for Sears etc. get paid the least.

I still believe working at full capacity, at almost all times, with more unhappy/angry people to deal with makes for a more stressed workforce. It is good for the bottom line but not for customer service.

My impression is that the heavy emphasis on security that comes after 9/11 is slowly getting airport and airline personnel power drunk. Customers in just about every other industry is treated like customers, but in this industry they are treated mostly as commodity. While it's true that economy passengers are barely profitable, these people at least cover the cost, so the airline can profit from business and first classes.

It's all about "respect my authority" now. Not following MY order is a federal crime! I have power!
