¡Hola a todos! 😊

Hello everyone 😊!

My name is Anna, I'm 36 years old, and lately I've been questioning my current lifestyle and wondering if there's more to life than the routine I'm used to.
For some time now, I've been thinking about making a change, finding a remote job, and having the freedom to travel the world while I work. It's something I've dreamed of for a long time, and I'm finally starting to seriously explore the possibilities.
Indonesia is one of the places that appeals to me most, and I would love the opportunity to live there for an extended period, not just visit as a tourist.
However, the more I research, the more questions I have! 😅
I would really appreciate hearing from people who already live in Indonesia as expats or digital nomads.
I'm particularly curious about a few things:
  • What is daily life like for an expat in Indonesia? Would you recommend it to someone looking for a lifestyle change?
  • What visa options are available for someone who wants to stay long-term? I've been reading about the digital nomad visa, but from what I understand, it requires an annual income of around €60,000, which, frankly, is quite a high requirement for me.
  • Are there other legal visa options for someone who wants to live in Indonesia and work remotely?
  • Regarding employment, what would you recommend? Is it better to look for a job with an Indonesian company or work remotely for an international company that allows you to live abroad?
  • For those who have already taken this step, how did you get started? Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry for so many questions! I'm simply at a point in my life where I really want to explore new possibilities, step outside my comfort zone, and see what life has in store for me beyond what I've always known.
I know it's not something that happens overnight, and I'm willing to dedicate the necessary time to plan it properly. I just don't know where to begin!
Thank you so much to everyone who takes the time to share their experience or offer any advice. I would really appreciate it!
