'Sep 10, 2026A case of alleged land mafia has resurfaced, this time related to the Complete Systematic Land Registration Program (PTSL) in Bojonggede, Bogor Regency. The Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) even searched the Bogor Regency National Land Agency (BPN) office and confiscated several documents and electronic devices.Of the approximately 10,000 PTSL certificates issued in 2019, investigators are currently focusing their investigation on 52 certificates suspected of being problematic. Police also allege the alleged involvement of individuals at several stages, including within the BPN (The National Land registry Agency)

Duplication of land titles occasionally occurs, which is generally impossible without the cooperation of insider personnel at the National Land Registry Agency.

Numerous news reports already highlight instances of duplicate land titles, property dispute reaching the Supreme Court. Te outcome is predictable, the party who is willing to pay the most will win. So, when ordinary individuals face legal disputes against major property developers (e.g land shark conglomerates), the probability of you will win at the highest court level is exceptionally low. You might only win if the case are exceptional such as effecting a lot of people in the same areas, and get picked up by the press, social media to sufficiently attract the public attention.

IMHO, another thing the foreigners living in Indonesia should not touch even with a barge pole is Indonesian insurance products, including health, life, and unit-linked investment product (e.g Insurance linked with investment). The regulatory bodies and consumer protection authorities meant to safeguard policyholders often collude with these entities. The sytem might operate like a well known ancient scam 'advance fee scheme'.

High-profile corruption scandals like Bumiputera, Jiwasraya, and ASABRI demonstrate the severity of the issue. When the companies do not hesitate to embezzle pension and welfare funds meant for the army, police, and their families, foreigners stand virtually no chance of protection.

A Series of Alleged Corruption Cases that Drag Nusron Wahid's Name

During the sting operation (Operasi Tangkap Tangan / OTT), the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) discovered and seized the Rp 106.3 billion in cash from multiple private residences belonging to Nusron Wahid's close associates and officials involved in the scheme.

Who is Nusron Wahid ? He is Indonesia's Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning / Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), So he is the top person dealing with land certificate and land ownership.

He previously served as a Deputy Chairman on the central executive board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), yet another example showing that a strong religious background does not seem to have any effect when come to corruption allegations.

Rather than staying in standard prison cells, they pass most of their sentence enjoying luxury accommodations built within the prison. In the past it has also been been caught some high profile prisoners were sneaking out to sleep at home.

I wonder, under such lenient conditions, how can a prison sentence serve its purpose?

Ombudsman: Some Inmates Are Actually Living in the Luxury Villa

Ombudsman member Fikri Yasin explains that the team found villa-style housing, luxury cars (such as a Fortuner and an Alphard), a simulated golf facility under construction, a gym/fitness area, and a swimming pool within the prison compound. The Ombudsman confirmed that actual inmates not prison officers or staff were occupying these luxury residences . When questioned, inmates admitted they were placed there, implying a pay-for-privilege arrangement.

The Ombudsman also discovered a lax security perimeter in the back area near garbage disposal paths where individuals and vehicles could move freely in and out.

Ombudsman inspectors faced resistance and physical friction from official prison guards and security officers who blocked their entry and attempted to prevent them from inspecting the closed-off villa structures.

Luxurious prison accommodations are a recurring issue in Indonesia, undermining the deterrent effect of prison sentences. If a public referendum were held today, it is clear that an overwhelming majority of Indonesians would support capital punishment for severe corruption cases and crimes. People could easily see where they are coming from.

I really enjoyed the Indonesian news on TV today with the press access to the luxury prison area and the Minister saying that they would have an investigation within a week as if he knew nothing about this. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. The first bland explanation that these were rest facility areas for the prison staff really didn't seem at all plausible

The examples above are just a few which have been caught, what about the others which were not caught ?

The Minister saying that they would have an investigation within a week as if he knew nothing about this. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

A mob syndicate internal investigation? What a joke ! People who know Indonesia quite well could see how that story like this might end up. The media can't hold the spotlight forever, so these syndicate just need to play 'salami tactics', play a waiting game until public interest completely dies out. The one who promise an investigation will be promoted to a higher position. More hotel-like luxury prison cells will spring.

That’s not the case with this Silfester Maututina character. He’s just an over emotional ultra fanatic Jokowi supporter who was sentenced to one year jail for slander. He accused Jusuf Kalla, the former VP, of corruption in a press conference. Not very smart since Kalla’s influence is still huge. And him being corrupt is a well known public secret. Remember the speech he gave about Indonesia needing ‘preman’?

Anyway, that jail time was never executed.
