Title : No level of alcohol consumption is safe for our health , January 2023

... It is the alcohol that causes harm, not the beverage

Alcohol is a toxic substance ... and has been classified as a Group 1 carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer decades ago – this is the highest risk group, which also includes asbestos, radiation and tobacco. Alcohol causes at least seven types of cancer, including the most common cancer types, such as bowel cancer and female breast cancer.

Ethanol (alcohol) causes cancer through biological mechanisms as the compound breaks down in the body, which means that any beverage containing alcohol, regardless of its price and quality, poses a risk of developing cancer ...

Risks start from the first drop
... the risk to the drinker’s health starts from the first drop of any alcoholic beverage. The only thing that we can say for sure is that the more you drink, the more harmful it is ...

In that case I should be dead since years..
Had 4 or 5 JD yesterday afternoon, 2 Pastis before dinner, 2 glasses of red wine and ended up with a few beers in a live band place.
Enjoy life before it ends...
And I am 72, so you can guess how I was at 40 !

Salvation Army, Salvation Army, Put a Nickel on the Drum, Save Another Drunken Bum,
Salvation Army, Salvation Army,
Put a Nickel on the Drum, And You'll,
Be Saved! 👍🤪🥳

Each person is a "different story" , a little different DNA . But you probably would live longer and healthier if you apply what science and statistics show .

My friend's father smoked and died at 82 so my friend told me (long ago) that he would do the same because dying at that age would be good enough . But at around 55 he had a coronary artery bypass surgery (his father didn't have) and the doctor told him that he probably would not live until 82 if he continue smoking . So he stopped .
Honestly, I can not understand this obsession about living old.
What is the point living till 80+ if you can not do anything anymore ? I mean, having some cute girls around you, good music and move on the dance floor...
I have always lived at full speed.
A good old friend, hosted a few years at Rikers island had this good slogan "full speed ahead and f*ck the torpedoes"
And I agree.

My friend got the all clear from his cancer treatment & went out for a glass of wine with friends- as he got home he dropped dead from a heart attack-
We all die- we cannot cheat death- we just have the time we have whilst here- if we live in fear of this food or that drink or whatever it is, then we actually stop living & just exist.
& I barely drink at all- I just can't abide people preaching at others about crap.

Why would you post a 2 1/2 year old article that isn't about Indonesia?
Just curious- however... to make it relevant- the cheap cheat alcohol in RI could well kill you much faster than you'd think... it isn't always the reputable alcohol in the bottle. Buyer beware.

That just about says it for everything you buy Now! Chickens, Beef, Pork, Duck, are full of antibiotics! Fish are full of Mercury! Vegetables full of Salmonella, E-Coli, And Listeria, all processed foods have a million additives, and preservatives! Bottled Water is full of Bacteria, Hamburger is full of Pink Slime! Salmon full of Carbon Monoxide to make it Red Color,! Pedophiles are after my Children, Rapist after the Young Girls, Religious Fanatics are trying to shove Religion down my Throat!
Israeli's are killing all the Palestinians!
And Now You tell me that Legal Alcohol, and Tobacco, will Kill me!
And Sex will give Me STD's or even AIDS!
What is Left? 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏾‍♀️🍄🤪🙀🤮☠️😍🙃

To me it is not about fear , but about prevention and/or cost/benefit .
Why would you post a 2 1/2 year old article that isn't about Indonesia?
Because I think it is an important subject .

Because I think it is an important subject . And learning 2.5 years late is better than not learning , isn't it ?

By the way , are we prohibited to post anything that is not about Indonesia ?
You are such a good Boy Scout! Now you can be an Eagle Scout! 🦅🤵🏼‍♂️👼🧖‍♂️

I was merely trying to understand the "why", Marcus.
I have no idea what you are prohibited from posting here, again, just trying to understand the why of this forum in particular.
However I am not that curious as to get into deep debate lol.

We know each other for around 10 years but now I am having difficult to understand you .
I felt your question , lets say , strange , so maybe we should come back to it . Could you please re-phrase it ?

You cannot , but probably there are others who can understand .
My point is about living intensively, make it worth every day.
Living like a zombie at 90 is not worth it
But again, this is MY point of view, some may have an different approach !

"Living every day" is great but it also helps to be mindful of some basics as Marcus is trying to remind us of morbidity studies that show ignoring the dangers of smoking and heavy drinking may make a big difference as to how many days you have for "Living every day." I am 86. The previous week I went snorkeling with mantas at Manta Bay, Lembongan. I doubt I would have got this far had I been a heavy smoker and drinker and not made the effort to exercise every day.

I knew .

We have the same age but my life is completely different than yours , so it is normal that we think so differently about this subject .

I have seen many people around this age and still being useful to the society .

My mother passed away at 105 and was loved & important to our family until the end .

That is a terrible way to judge People! just listen to your words? Is a person still USEFUL at an old age? What if their not Useful, as you say? Should we just discard them like an Old pair of Shoes? What would you have done with your Mother, if she was not Useful? Thrown her out with the Trash? Or in the Ocean? 🙀🫵🤦🏾🤦

I understand and I accept.
My dad passed away in his early 40's I was barely 15.
He had a much more wild life than I will ever have. Foreign Legion, Indochina... When he died (lung cancer) the doctors said "his body is simply worn out"
I have a brother wo left he was not even 60.
Many ex colleagues, younger than me who are gone. Cancer, work accidents, AVC...
I never stress about dying.
