Well boys and girls I dont know if it's just me but it seems that way too many threads are getting hijacked into screaming matches lately. What use to be a time to read about others adventures into being a expat and a learning experience has turn into something that is as much fun as listening to Rush Limbaugh.

Since I dont need the aggravation reading these , I've decided for a time I'm not going to participate or read the general forum or the news forum...if I need aggravation I can go talk to someone at immigration.

So to my freinds I have made here that have helped us get here , happy trails. To most of the others enjoy your life in wonderful Indonesia and to the few others chill out .

Going back several years on the "Old Forum" it has always been my impression that we should all put on our Big Girl and Boy Pants when we show up to play here (or There). I've got mine on.

Anyway, yeah, I've done the flouncy-bouncy too. I came back, like the "I got better!" bloke from Holy Grail. Have fun with it ...

The point is one cannot resign from the forum. I'm guessing it has to do with a number of members a forum has gives it some status...therefore S & P's only remedy is to stop corresponding with the forum...which is the action he wants to take so I suggest we just leave him alone and close this thread.

I fully understand what @steveandpenny mean and agree. Flouncing is never really the way though; I simply go into hibernation for an extended period (mods are aware of that btw).

So if I get fed up since there is a diarrhea of foreign outdated and misinformed news articles and videos again, without any valuable opinions (or knowledge from the poster for that matter), then I give up and stop posting for a longer while.

And yes, it seems members who just think it’s funny to belittle, insult and taunt others (cf. the dog meat or unwanted notifications discussion) have popped up in strong force recently. All in the name of ‘be a man and take it but don’t say anything back to me’. I can only say: Grow up Losers. (That name calling they probably understand instead of valid arguments.)

I agree with some points mentioned but I also think that we all want different things for the forum.

At the end of the day, I think we can all coexist and chose to ignore or call out behaviors that bug us (both are valid reactions).

The few users who like to stir the pot tend to get a certain response from the community in return, bringing balance back.

Truth be told an internet forum is never the best place to try and convince someone to change their beliefs or take your side of the argument

Please come back soon! Don't let a few disagreements, however coarsely they are expressed, chase you away.

A break from any message board can make a lot of sense, but so does coming back when you've had a little time off to reflect and remind yourself that as long as you take the more inflammatory quarrels in stride (and those are inevitable given the nature of the beast), participating can be fun, rewarding, and informative.

Come back steveandpenny, I had someone today make a comment about me which was absolutely nothing to do with the thread, I bit back, I feel better cos I can give back worse, but not really the way the forum should go, but sadly that’s life in the forum world, it doesn’t happen very often, but you have made some interesting contributions so don’t let a few silly comments upset you, so just come back and do your best to ignore them, sometimes people will disagree with your point of view, this makes interesting reading, but not unwanted personnel comments

I'd like to think there is room for everyone. Posters that need to retreat to a cave (which the mods are aware of BTW) because they don't like the posts of others should go as deep as as they can into it so as to prolong their slithery return..

It's a pretty sad day for the forum to see you leaving, even temporarily, Steve.
Albeit I can see your point, and many times have been fed up by the keyboard warriors who think that insulting someone is making a point, I think that leaving is just letting more space for this kind.

Anyway, I will have the chance to enjoy meeting you from time to time. You are by far one of the best Expat chap in the area. See you soon, I hope.
