When do the schools go back after Corona?

The question about the school being in the green zone but kids coming from red zones was a question that was brought up in our meeting this morning. Seems still lots is unclear. Also only secondary would be able to open in July not primary.

So today was officially the last day of the academic year. Before we left, one of the board members stopped by to talk with us. He didn't exactly confirm, but he did strongly hint that we would be doing home learning until December. When I asked the High School principal, he too made it seem like we would be doing home learning until December. He(Principal) did say the one thing they are still discussing is will teachers work from school or work from home.

To me this would indicate the rumor about going to school physically is starting to be a reality.

So far the poll with Jr. High, majority of the teachers prefer to work from home.

What type of schools have you heard that are cutting salaries?

Sorry, I do not recall now. 1 or 2 teachers in my network reported cuts.

This is from JIS Campus Reopening Policy...JIS will start school on August 12, 2020. They already have safety measures for staff, faculty, and students. JIS policies and plans will adapt as government regulations and public health situations change.

According to Binus School Simprug calendar, school will start on July 14, 2020. However, this might change due to government polices with coronavirus situation.

So school is planning on starting as normal for in terms of the start date.

We were asked about what we have for online learning(tablet, computer, phone, etc...) and how our internet connection is recently.

The Jr. High has told us that unless we have a problem with the internet, we will be working from home. Still if teachers want to go to school, they have to inform the principal first.

Well with the threat of the PSSB returning, I think schools are going to be doing online learning for the foreseeable future and into 2021.

Our students began the current year with home based learning in June with the plan to return on 13 July. The current status is "Home based learning until further notice". With much of Jakarta in the red, it could be a while.

Well after a meeting last week that included the Director of Curriculum when we were discussing Cambridge IGSCE and IELTS, we were told there is a really strong chance(my guess is 90%) that we are going to be doing home learning for the rest of the academic school year.

A sister in law works at a private, international school here in Bali which is open. However, a large, Indonesian school next door is still closed and I think won't be opening this year.

I am holding out hope that we can have some form of onsite learning starting in January because I have deep concerns regarding the level of preparedness for the IGCSE exams in May / June.

My only school age kid is still schooling at home, the school will likely remain online based for the rest of the year. Great for me, as it absolves me from school delivering and picking up duties.

Apparently Cambridge is working on creating an online version, but I was told they don't have an ETA when it will be ready.

We did the IGCSE diagnostic tests online and it has been hit and miss. The IELTS Prediction was a nightmare though. 3.5 hours with audio issues, and the person administering the test ending the meeting in the middle of the test.

It will be interesting to see whether Cambridge is able to make an online version that is robust enough to replace the old testing protocol entirely. That would be one way to "make lemonade" from the pandemic lemons, but I have doubts about whether the leadership has such a forward-looking mindset.

I would think it wouldn't be that hard to create the test itself, but if they have concerns about monitoring it, I can understand.

However I have no faith in them after they screwed up with the results in August. After asking for evidence and predictions, they only took the historical information. When they did the conference call, it showed they weren't expecting the backlashed they received. They were stumbling all over the place. Fortunitly they realized their screw up and changed the grades.

It is very difficult situation for Indonesian kids. Many don't have school at all in villages. Already almost one year.

It looks like in Bali they are considering hybrid schooling starting next term (January). This means both online and offline at the same time, with each student and their parents determining which mode they choose. Even then, only at 50% capacity, either by hoping that at least half choose to stay online, or by taking turns. It is recommended that the children who are doing fine with online learning to continue this way.

Also, no lunch periods or breaks, as these are considered large gatherings, so school will only be for core subjects and end before lunch time. All other health protocols also remain in place (masks, ventilation, hand washing, no going to school if any symptoms of any sickness).

From what I have understood, my school is considering doing hybrid, but the curriculum director said some depends on what the government says, if there is a vaccine, and what the parents say. I haven't heard what their exact plans are.

Based on a Jakarta Post article, it said at least 80% of the schools wouldn't be able to open even for hybrid.
