Not sure how much of it was valid but had a casual dinner at a friend's house a couple weeks ago....normally after a couple bottles of wine people started sharing stories...one guy happens to be in the mining business and dealing with the government quite a bit. Since somebody brought up the infamous 271T tin mining industry, he started saying that...often times, when making certain 'fees' (anything from speeding up documentation process down to the signing of the permit), US dollar is one of the preferred currency...cold, hard cash of course. Much easier and less obvious to handle than bringing five duffle bags of rupiahs to either a hotel or somebody's residence...

Also 500euro notes or even $10,000 SG
I keep hearing rumours they will stop the pink 500 Euro since "only money launderers use them" lol

But it's true - 50,000 euro in 500 is thinner than an iphone and easy to keep in a breast pocket or such
$50,000 is 5 bricks so thats like 3-4 inches thick, needs a satchel

Now imagine that in IDR 800jt assuming you can even get all 100's

80 bricks is a duffle bag

Moral of the story don't rob a bank, rob a money changer

As far as I know the 500euro notes are out of production already, just the circulating ones are still tolerated. Or was that what you meant? That they won't accept any 500 euro notes anymore?

I think they stopped printing new ones and when the banks get them, they keep them back and don't release them back into the system

Old ones of course still legal tender

Yes I think that's what's happening.

That sounds like what happened in America! When you brought in Gold, or Silver coins, they were gone forever! Where did they go?

Euro higher and higher
