We need to buy flight tickets to europe, the million-dollar question

So you had Etihad business class or Singapore economy for the same price and went with Singapore?

Ok

Ok
snpak, I even didn´t check Etihad because from the begining I had clear I didn´t want to flight with any ME airlines. Maybe it can be hard to understand for some people, but travel in business class is no really a priority fo me or that important.
We are krisflyer members as well, so I will get miles enought to add to the ones I have now and get some free tickets in a country in Asia (I would love to go to Laos, Sri Lanka or HK next year).
By the way, if I would have no panic I could have get the day I wanted with the times I wanted and avoid to stop in Milan from Barcelona to Singapore, a longer route but a few minutes after having problems with the credit card when I tried again the price went up and I chosen the cheapest tickets in august with maximun stay 6 months and that one it was with the stop in Milan.
The most important now like snpak said, I can relax and forget it, this was again a learning experience for me. I didn´t realize when I had the problem with the credit card as well, they send me that "booking" to my email and asked me to continue, I forgot about that, if I would have check the email I may could have got what I wanted for the price I wanted. We are traveling 4 days before we were planning and with a stop in Milan, which I wanted to avoid but it will be ok, 3 hours longer is no a huge deal.
Have a beautiful sunday

Can I ask what's the problem with ME airlines. Just curious. I mean you don't even leave the airport. You would be in the Etihad business class lounge in their own home airport for 6 hours.

Etihad and especially their business class is widely considered to the the absolute best in the world even superior to SG business class but you prefer to pay the same price to travel in economy on an inferior airline and ironically you will fly over Abu Dhabi anyway.

Still it's your choice. Just after all the advice you were given that you chose the option you did and even cost you same amount.

Anyway safe flight

To each their own.

Btw, I selected Etihad business once with my AA miles (even if they’re not part of OneWorld). Big mistake; first they didn’t want to give me 40 kilo bagage allowance, and then I found out the second leg (to Jakarta) was subcontracted to a Spanish company. Old plane inferior seats.

But not in the last few years right? When was this?

Early 2024. Wamos was the name of that company, there were Etihad flight attendants present to ‘supervise’.

Qatar is doing something in between with Garuda; it’s not really a wet lease but also not a pure codeshare. Those flights operated by Garuda between Indonesia and Doha are somewhat cheaper than the full QR trajectory and often will not allow (Doha) lounge access for business class travelers. Also somewhat chaotic at check-in; nobody really knows if they need to go to the Qatar or Garuda counter.

Sounds like it was a charter and indeed checking on the www confirms such. They probably hired the crew from EY and it was a corporate shindig or something. And they had spare seats so you got moved there. Anyway moving on

And as you know usually with a proper code share you can check in at either of the airlines mentioned.
And yes sometimes where possible they will try and short change you on luggage and even some base fare J class won't give you lounge access.

I can understand being concerned with flying through the middle east. While I don’t share the same concerns with flights at this point.

I‘ve flown some ME airlines in the last 20 years. Mostly in business or first. Emirates, and Saudia. My wife flew on Qatar two years ago. On a revenue ticket, I’d guess if more missiles are going to strike their airports, they will move you to other airlines.

I don’t find that many airlines pay out well for flying in coach, with miles. 25-30 years ago, I could easily earn an around the world ticket in business class every year, just from flying in coach. I redeemed such an award in 2005-2006. I did 5-6 continents over the span of 11 months.

I hope your trip works out well.

Yeh thats the weird bit. Still gotta fly over the airport anyway just in an Asian plane. And crushed in economy with 2 kids
