War

420,000 that includes 82 to 84 thousand children abducted from small towns that russia have taken over in Ukraine. They were bussed to russia, sorted, and shipped all across russia. These are civilians, not military. Probably just another war crime commited by russia.

National Bank of Ukraine has two accounts accepting transfers for the purpose of defense and humanitarian effort.

Looks like Putin's first foreign trip will be to Bali. That could be interesting..
Many Western nations are saying to expell russia or at least uninvite him for this one. Indonesia wants to keep the, all invited and maybe we can fix the global economy pipe dream. Indonesia is acting like everything in the world is just fine so they do not act like they are taking sides. Problem for Jokowi is that if the West don't show up, his G20 is a failure and of course it will be braodcasted as an insult to him personally. If the West shows and Putin shows, Jokowi thinks he can bring them together despite their political differences. Another pipe dream.

If Putin shows I can see him trying to control the directives and being trump and him are so much alike, (trump's idol) I can see putin going for the, all for russia or no deals at all course. If Putin trys to lead and Indonesia gets cast aside with all the finger pointing and name calling, it too will be a failure for Jokowi.

Another pipe dream is the simple fact the with Jokowi's plan to get the world's economys in order, it will be impossible since so much of the world economy us now based on the invasion of Ukraine by russia. As long as russia stays the aggressor, the economy is not going to improve without the West easing sanctions and replacing what russia had contributed.

I just don't see how this G20 can be a possitive for Indonesia. Unfortunate time in history.

Postponing real discussions about Russia and Putin's role in the G20 is the best approach for Jokowi and Indonesia. It has barely been a month since the invasion, 7 months from now I anticipate the world relationship with Russia will either be much better or much worse, making those decisions easier.

This could be an Indonesian thing, but I was often annoyed by the mindset that everything is negotiable, that making peace is not hard. Too many Indonesians rush to advocate for peace regardless of the principles at stake, then feel insulted when the suggestion is not accepted. If two parties are in conflict, somebody will always step up and try to force peace regardless of fault.

I fear that Jokowi falls into this trap, thinking that if he could just get Putin and everybody on the same table sipping coffee, everything would be all right. It’s gonna take much, much more than kopi luwak in Bali to achieve peace.

I wonder if some Ukrainians in Bali might try and get a job at the St Regis Nusa dua and slip something in his drink.
Russia will bring a largr Entourage with putin so more than likely any Western leader would be more threatened with putin's history.

As Russia tries to salvage something from this disaster, here are the stages of Kremlin troII gas lighting:
“It’s just an exercise.”
“The troops are leaving the border.”
“There will not be an invasion.”
“NATO forced Russia to invade.”
“The East of Ukraine will become part of Russia. The West will have a new pro-Moscow leader.”
“They should just surrender now to end the suffering.”
“There’s bound to be some losses early on, but Ukraine will collapse soon.”
“Why do the West go on about Kyiv? The important fighting is in Kharkiv.”
“Forget Kharkiv. There’s a huge convoy heading for Kyiv!”
“They’re pausing to resupply.”
“Infantry are irrelevant on today’s battlefield. It’s all about artillery and missiles.”
“The Ukrainians are just claiming hospitals got hit.”
“If Ukraine doesn’t surrender then it’s nuclear war!”
“Here come the Syrian volunteers!”
“Here come the Chechen hard men in black uniforms!”
“Odessa next, then it’s all over.”
“Once Mariupol falls, they’ll surround the Ukrainian regular army.”
“These hypersonic missiles will settle the matter.”
“Don’t pick on a cornered bear.”
“They’re not running away they’re luring the Ukrainians into an ambush!”
