Valid spouse sponsored kitap til 2021 but merp expired and no plans to leave outside indonesia

Hi I'm Ana, I'm on a spouse sponsored 5 year kitap that is valid until 2021, my merp expired in 2018, was thinking of changing citizenship to wni but then couldnt decide and forgot about renewing merp, I am about to renew my Australian passport which expires end of 2019. Will i get a penalty for renewing the merp after the expiry date? Im planning to go to depok immigration to renew my merp after i get my new passport. Or should i just go to immigration to let them know im getting a new passport.

Any advice or experience dealing with merp would be great thanks. Btw not planning to leave the country but we still need to apply for merp every 2 years is that correct?

AFAIK, no need to renew MERP if you are not planning to leave Indonesia, there is no penalty for renewing expired MERP, and no need to let immigration know you already got a new passport.
