Australia has long been in fear of the "yellow peril". The white Australia policy continued into the late 60s and early 70s. (Happily race is no longer an immigration issue.) Australia has long felt isolated. In the late 1870s the big fear was that the Russians were going to invade. An iron, semi submersible, steam war ship was built in England and painfully made its way south. When it arrived at the heads off Port Phillip Bay near Melbourne it caused a panic by firing a shot to herald its arrival. People headed for the hills. The ship never fired a shot in anger.

Australia continued clinging to Britain and fighting in its wars until WW2 when Britain did not want to release Australian soldiers from Europe as Japan entered the war, Australia then turned to the US and has clung desperately ever since to the coat tails of the US for protection. Much or our military hardware has been purchased from the US to maintain that protective relationship.

Such a Sad way of thinking! Always living in fear is not the way it's supposed to be! It sounds like present America and the EU. All the Whites afraid of people of color. Instead of figuring out what the problem is, and why do all these people want to migrate to the US, and the EU. And how to fix the problems, so the people can stay in their home countries.
Instead they resort to building walls, wasting money on mass deportation, strengthening Militaries, and Police, which only induces more fear and suppression. There's got to be a better Way!

I'm afraid this is only the beginning of many major catastrophic moves this Madman is going to try to do. He is completely out of control, and trying to ignore the constitutional laws that have been put in place since the American Revolution when the British were kicked out. The founding fathers saw that laws must be made to never allow the tyranny of a Monarchy happen again. So they put in place a checks and balance system, which is the Congress makes the laws, The Executive branch enforces them, and the Judicial Branch makes sure they're legal.
What Trump is trying to do is disregard the laws, and declare that he doesn't have to follow the laws, and his decisions are now the rule of the land above all others!
That is a Monarchy! Please I implore everyone to get on Youtube and watch Democracy Now. Amy Goodman explains and points out the madness of what is happening. From Trump wanting to cleanse the Gaza Strip and build exclusive resorts, to the Israel's disregarding the cease fire and bombing Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria!
This is not rhetoric, but a long thought out plan, calledProject 2025. I hope all the world leaders stand up and put a stop to this Madness, and tell Trump to Feck off!
It's sad and embarrassing to the Sane American people!

That would be the best news ever! Spend the money on developing food manufacturing instead of spreading more fear, bombs, and killing people!

Agree but he will not change when his current method is getting results and as long as those results are a net positive for the US, he doesn't need to.

In the short term, he's getting what he wants. In the long term, I believe he will lose badly - as will the US population.
Countries were moving away from USD after Biden froze Russia's money (stole it?), but Trump is upsetting friend and foe. I see China jumping in as and when they can, pushing the US out of world influence.

If it's true, and The CIA is using USAID as a means to do undercover work, then, that's a shame if it stops the Humanitarian aspect of Feeding Millions, and providing much needed medicine to those in Need.

I was just reading news from The U, about how the new administration is going through the government and firing anyone that doesn't get in line and abide with whatever Trump wants. They are encouraging people to spy and report on anyone that doesn't follow Trump's wishes. They even are censoring the Press that doesn't go along with Him wanting to change the name of The Gulf of Mexico to The Gulf of America! He wants to take Greenland and change the name to Red, White, and Blueland! Hah!
Getting kids to Rat on their parents, and changing the truth of the facts, to All go along with Trumps desires, is exactly out of the book 1984.
Trump and Musk, want to eliminate waste and unnecessary spending, of agencies , and such, But will not reveal anything about their Own financial disclosures. After Trump was sworn in as President, Elon Musk made Billions of $ on Government contracts! And now he is in charge of making sure there are no conflicts of interest with Corporations and people making money off the Government.
Trump is the only sitting President that never released his Tax Returns! And now Musk has been given an Exemption from showing his Assets, And Business Dealings?

On the USaid....theres quite a few very high end apartments in Jakarta becoming available as they are being sent home. They were all on high wages living in the best ($5k+ a month) apartments in the city.

Sorry about that. I was referring to The US. I use Youtube to access American news. Most of the mainstream broadcasts (MSNBC, ABC, CNN,) say the same thing. Fox news is owned by Rupert Murdoch, and totally is RightWing pro Trump. I think the most unbiased is Democracy Now. They do tend to broadcast so much depressing news about the World, that I feel hopeless after watching.
What I don't like is there is so much talking, and nothing changes. Why doesn't someone bust Trump when he won't answer a question, with a simple yes or no answer? Like when someone asked him, if Ukraine would be an equal partner in the peace talk with Russia, Ukraine, and The US?
His answer was ( Ohh, That's an interesting question?) then he proceeds to say something like, Ukraine has an election coming?
Why can't there ever be News about the World that's uplifting? It seems it all just keeps going round and round, and nothing ever gets done!
It makes me want to go back to the wilderness, and sit by a crystal clear river, or stream, and forget the Madness of the World we've created!

When so many small countries are pushed to the point of major disaster, (Starvation, Pollution, Internal conflicts, Wars) and there is so little going to these poor countries?
Since the Palestinians are Muslim, Why don't I ever hear of Rich Arab countries helping to stop this Genocide, and provide much needed (Food, Temporary shelters, Clean Water, Water filtration systems, Heavy equipment for rebuilding, Agricultural supplies, Etc.)
All of this news seems to focus on how the People of Palestine trying to fight back against the Israeli Domination, are called Militants, and the Israeli's are called Soldier's?
Where is China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar,Etc, in the news providing assistance to all the suffering countries, ( in Africa, Palestine, Burma, Etc?

Elon has his sights set on being the first trillionair. He has increased his fortune by over 100 billion just since the election and named to doge. All the while it is easy to see he loves the power. Funny how he seems to have power over trump. Trump would never give that up without it being a repayment for something really big.

The problem with Elon making all these claims about all these agencies is, he produces no evidence or even examples. They want to cut Medicare now by 2 trillion dollars to help pay for trump's tax cuts for the wealthy. Trump supporter in the Red states are celebrating. Gonna be funny when they find out that people in those Red states are some of the biggest receivers if Medicade programs. Raise the debt ceiling by 4 trillion and they will still claim they are conservatives.

Exactly the reason I stopped being a Republican with his debt created his first term and of course like so many, the total disregard towards a million people dying from Covid. I was already gone by Jan 6 but that caused the to never return for me. Beyond broke.
