'The State of the World’s Human Rights' : annual report available for download

Here is the URL for the free download of Amnesty International's report which, according to Amnesty:

"assesses national, regional and global developments across a wide range of human rights themes. It highlights how states have undermined the international rules-based system, hindering the resolution of problems that affect the lives of millions. It also identifies trends regarding armed conflicts, repression of dissent, discrimination, economic and climate injustice, the abrupt halt of humanitarian aid, and the misuse of technology. The report documents human rights concerns during 2025 in 144 countries, connecting global and regional issues and looking to the future."

I believe that Indonesia is featured in the report.

Who in his right mind would want to visit the US nowadays ?

Been in Washington DC and Boston in the mid 70's, that was enough.
Even if you paid me now, I wouldn't go.

I am surprised to see India listed third. While its economy might generate monetary flow at a much greater level than at present the structure of Indian society and politics seems beyond management as far as lifting the masses out of poverty towards the degree as has been achieved by China.

It was actually 1,500 years if you don't count the Roman Republic (not all historians do) but not in the same form. Really hard to look at the changes they hade to make and still consider it one empire. Counting the Roman Republic there were 4 very different stages.

Who in his right mind would want to visit the US nowadays ?

It depends entirely upon what region, city, etc. (obviously), but I avoid the cities when I visit now, and plan my itineraries for daylight arrivals & departures.

Arrival at airport during daylight hours --> rental car --> leave city as quickly as possible

I've missed major museum exhibitions because of this strategy, but I just don't feel comfortable in the cities.

Make nothing? Cheeseburgers and pornography are nothing? There's also the MIC, which is fat and happy and makes a lot of things that are in demand but don't do the world much good .
Yeah the US certainly has major problems. Too many people hate too many other people over nothing of significance and politicians use that to their personal benefit. The current resident of the White House is a case in point. Speaking of human rights, the only refugees he's letting in are white South Africans, which is bizarre. Meanwhile technocrats line their own pockets and amass power.
That said, the US economy still produces huge wealth in spite of the dysfunction and will probably continue to do so for a long time. PRC and India have done well so far but have serious structural challenges to overcome and can still shoot themselves in the foot too. I wouldn't pass the torch to Asia quite yet.
