I am not talking about the demonstration but there are Islamists in the military, police, universities, business, kampungs etc. etc. etc.. I would say it is a myth that only poor uneducated people become Islamists.
OK, any one that is a member of an Islamic religion is an Islamist. So, I take it you are talking about radical, hardline Islamist.
Of course they exist. Let's eliminate the police and military from the educated first since that really doesn't apply because you pay to get in there and many times you end up having to "repay" your benifactors.
universities and businesses. Those would relate more to the riders of the kambing carts. Leaders in the movement that forsee something in it for them. Normally leadership rolls that can be rather profitable.
Are there successful people with radical beliefs? Of course there is but in comparison to the uneducated, that is a tiny percentage. No, these hardliners need mass and it is in the uneducated they get that. Those easily fed a line to get them to follow. You can not have an army made up of educated people, they know when to say, nope, not ready to die, and lay down their weapons. No, the army is in the masses of uneducated. Those that are convinced that to be a martyr they receive the ultimate rewards.
You can say that there have been educated, successful people that have packed up their families and went to join ISIS. So far I have failed to see any interviews from the ones who reached their destinations. I wonder what their feelings are after finding they may not keep their wives or at least have to share them? When their daughters become communal property for the betterment of the cause? I have read this from others that returned. Perhaps, just because you were educated, you get a pass on this. Then again, maybe we don't read about it because they are never returning.
