How is that going to work- I have enough problems with the cashier-less checkout in the UK supermarkets...
& then I read on & feel somewhat comforted yet cheated.

I was musing how it could ever work here- at the first decent sized pot-hole the car would disappear & it would be a massive fail.

Hahahaha yeah- just WHAT is the point of a self-driving car if it has to have an attendant- to avoid human error & replace it with mechanical error... Surely we had vehicles of old that were limited to get on- drop off places with an attendant- they were called trams & carried more than a handful of people.
A classic case of technology- going forwards and getting nowhere & achieving nothing

More like the parking attendants. No one hired them but they sure seem to think they control your parking lot. Guys will just show up, hope in a car and proclaim they control it\s usage. For a small fee of course.

Besides that, there will also be a person on the backseat monitoring the systems.

Singapore was an obvious choice. Having driven 8,000 miles on US highways the previous three months and witnessing an accident every single day on straight 65 MPH roads without any entry/exit for miles, I can see the use of these systems.

Nutonomy beats Uber to be the first to test the autonomous car in a commercial setting. But it is the future; the car manufacturers and Google are all testing this. Mercedes is very advanced in their systems; the S-class has quite some functionality already on board. There was also the Tesla accident which was a bit of a debacle and step back.

How could they have a driverless vehicle here ?? there would be no one to blame when the idiots on the road crash into it ??

At least the auto driving cars would stop at the RED traffic lights unlike the local idiots. I am getting fed up shouting "merah, goblok" at traffic crossings.

How would a driverless car cope with all the Wally motor cyclists, weaving around, going the wrong way, shooting red lights, when a normal? Driver cannot cope, it would be totally overwhelmed

Indonesia already has an abundance of driverless cars and motors it seems.

The positive aspect would be following the GPS route. No more getting "lost". Unless of course that is the role of the assistant, to override the GPS to up the fare.

I have experienced GPS to not always be so reliable. Even in Chicago it would try to send my on routes that had one way streets, in the opposite direction. I would imagine the GPS here would be less reliable.
