Roof drain is flooding inside our kitchen everytime there is heavy rain.

Well, we are still running into some flooding when we have hujan deras.

My wife called out another plumber, highly rated online (for what that’s worth). Two guys with a 17 meter long professional plumbing snake setup.

Supposed costs if they solved the problem, 70k per meter of the snake used. 200k for a service fee, if not.

They looked in 3 or 4 different pipes. Kitchen, bathroom sink, shower, desk (top floor) drain. They did find a cloth in the bathroom one.

However, that doesn’t seem to have been the real bottleneck. The two plumbers worked for about 5 hours, well into the evening. They were baffled about the pipes, and at the end only charged the 200k and walked away.

We have tried different remedies, including putting a floor mat over the deck drain. Trying to let it slowly drain, instead of overwhelming the current drainage. I obviously was not impressed with this option, as I didn’t want any flooding in our top floor bedrooms. There is a fairly high step from the deck floor, to the living area.

She has now put some plastic material in the kitchen, (Like a 7cm tall wall/moat) to keep any water from flooding all that floor. This afternoon, we had more hujan deras, and had less water, but coming from different places.

My wife is heading off on a trip in 2 months, and doesn’t want flooding happening any more. She’s even mentioned drilling a hole for a new drainage area.

I think a good plumbing camera could diagnose it here, much easier. Finding such a thing is difficult, so far.

I have this idea (but I don't know if appropriate) :

Referring to the photo of your post no.6 :
a) substitute the upper part with a normal pvc tube with a 'flap door' at its lower end (like this : https://shopee.co.id/Tutup-Paralon-...ot-Back-Flow-Backflow-i.917812831.19868412981) to allow water going down but prevent water going up .

b) make the pipe connection tightly to avoid water flooding from it . If different diameter you can use something like this : 750ml PU Sealant FOam Spray Lem Poliuretan Busa Serbaguna Polyurethane | Shopee Indonesia

c) at the roof you make a new piping system to drain part of the water from the rain , routing it at the exterior of the house .

Well, my wife has contacted our architect who was in charge of our remodel, 9 years ago or so.

He didn’t have anything to do with the plumbing, but has come up with a plan for a new drainage system from the roof. He’s working on a project in Jogja now, so trying to locate an experienced small crew to do the job.

So, last week we had our maid’s husband come in with a helper, and he was confident that he could do the job. After a few hours it became obvious that was not the case. So, we decided to cut that attempt off short.

First attempt

We had tried getting someone more experienced to do the work, but I guess their main customer wouldn’t let them, even though they weren’t doing anything that week.

We found another experienced guy, but of course he was much more expensive. He gave a flat rate of 5 juta, including all materials. And installing the one way valves, like Marcus mentioned, on the existing kitchen drainage tube.

Including covering up the new tubing with a facade of some sort, painting the outside tubing to match the house paint, etc.

In the first day they finished the tubing work, and capped off the old tubing from the back patio upstairs. No rain yet, so no testing of it yet.

This looks terrible, pipe across the ceiling. You should take out the drainage from the roof via outside walls and pitpes, like in every normal country.

It’s not done yet.

Here‘s a final picture of when the project is done.

Final cost 2.5 juta for labor, 2.5 juta for supplies. Including some tiles replaced, too. 3 days of labor, usually 2 guys working, and another guy supervising.
