If you don’t know and need to guess perhaps it’s better not to respond.
From https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/guess
Guess : 1. to form an opinion of from little or no evidence , ...

So , for you , perhaps it is better that I don't tell my opinions (or specifically my opinion in post no.19) . Can you tell me why ? I am I fooling people , harming people , misleading people , .. ?

Everything about the new online immigration processes seem very confusing. How does one advise on line about a new passport?

Sorry , I didn't understand . Could you rephrase the question ?
Travelling to Aus later in the year. If I stayed on a bit I may find my present passport no longer had 6 months validity. So will renew my passport. I presume I must advise immigration and will also need to get a new entry permit as my old one expired. I don't know how one would advise immigration on line about the new passport.

a) First step is to create an account at https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/front/register : for a "foreigner" if your Residence Permit has no sponsor , or for the "Indonesian Citizen" if it has a sponsor (and the sponsor agrees , of course) .

After uploading the requested documents and finishing this step , you will need to wait few days for the confirmation email (saying something like :
Dear Customer
"Account owner's name"
Thank you for choosing our immigration services, we are pleased to inform you that the ... registration application has been approved, and the account is now active. Please login to https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/front/login using the following username ...)

b) Login @ https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/front/login

c) Click at "SERVICES"

d) At "Stay Permit" , click at "Find Existing Stay Permit", a new page will show up for you to type the Permit number + passport number .

e) A new page will come with the data of your Stay Permit and the right side there will be a word "Action" inside a green box . By clicking it , you will find the services available for your Stay Permit , like : Extend , Change Data , Bridging Stay Permit , Re-Entry Permit , EPO , ..

Thank you. Does the "Change Data" cover reporting about the new passport?
Previously, if away and then returning to Indonesia an immigration officer flicked through and found the Merp stamp. While there are now digital entry gates I take it the passport details on line would show the new entry permit. Sometimes there may be a problem with the gate and one is referred to an immigation officer. Given problems sometime with computer systems I would feel much more comfortable with a stamp in the passport.
Sorry to seem so ignorant but these kind of things must also trouble others.

Your right, it would be nice if the stamps were in the Passport, but there not! I got both my E TAP, and my IMK online, so I just got my agent to print out a laminated card of the E-ITAP, and if I want I can do the same with the IMK, if I ever want to leave the country! This is a good, and bad idea, having it all online. But hey, if the computers are down, for you, the Internet is also not working for the Government! The Airplanes won't be flying either! Don't worry, Eat some Nasi Goreng! And enjoy Indonesia! 👍🥳😵‍💫🤪✌️

Airlines can be in trouble in some countries if they allow a passenger to fly without an appropriate visa. So without stamps in passports, is this now out the window?

Of course not. You still get proof, just no more stamp.
