Opening Bca Checking Account

...
But BI only refers to the necessity to have complete (incl. tax) ID information for individuals. (So: If you have/need a NPWP, you need to show it when opening an account.)

.....
This is what I found on the internet.

UPDATE:

Thank you all for the posts. I realize this thread has extended beyond my original question and into other banking topics as well, but I just want to give a final update on my situation for anyone interested.

I did not get the BCA account. Actually, after speaking with my employers, I found that although someone in their HR had initially told me I would need a BCA checking account, they actually do their payroll through Maybank. This would be so infuriating if I wasn't just relieved to not have to deal with BCA anymore.

Now, whether or not Maybank will have the same obstacles, I do not know. But I'm at least far more prepared to deal with this process now that I have more information.

It is the largest Malaysian bank and they have bought PT Bank Internasional Indonesia (known as BII) in 2008 or 2009. In late 2015 Depkumham has signed the necessary decree to authorize them to change the BII name to Maybank and since then most, if not all of their branchs have done so, calling themselves BII Maybank or just Maybank.

Their ATM card are connected with the ALTO, BERSAMA, CIRRUS and PRIMA networks.

Hopefully things went smoothly for you at Maybank!

I can't tell you how many hoops I've jumped through just to find out that it wasn't necessary. We feel your would-be pain! In the moment, it was simpler for that person to tell you that only BCA would work. I know that local people have similar experiences (and often more patience for them), but I think being a foreigner invites simpler, though often inaccurate, information.

Thanks, Viscissidude! Agreed, and I think I have a lot of work to do when it comes to being patient with how things work here. You'd think after 5 years, I wouldn't be surprised by anything, but Jakarta never ceases to amaze.

I haven't yet gone to open the Maybank account as I haven't actually started working at my new gig yet. Right now, I'm just vacationing at home. But, when I do, I'll at least know all the things I should anticipate. Unfortunately, my previous employer has made my transition difficult so I've had a whole other issue to concern myself with.

Anyway, thanks again!
