Defense Secretary Jame Mattis resign abruptly on Thursday. Brett McGurk, the special envoy for the global coalition to defeat Islamic State, submitted his resignation on Friday. The President is rumored to be on the verge of trying to fire the Federal Reserve Chairman, Jerome Powell.

Soon only the rats will be left aboard the SS Trump.

Can he even fire Fed chairman?

Either way, interfering with an independent central bank is the stuff tinpot dictators around the world do when they try to cover up their failed economic policies...

With the departure of Mattis, the only ones left in this administration are the rats, led by the King Rat himself.

Calm down peasants, cal down. Jared and Ivanka are still in da House.

Although most authoritative observers say no, the President cannot fire the Fed Chairperson, Trump is notorious for ignoring the advice of learned counsel.

Good point. To Trump's Tweedle Dumb, Rudy is Tweedle Dumber.

All good fun from a European view.....

And I thought FOX and CNN were ridiculous ? They're beaten large and wide by the Orange muppet show.

Sad that it gives a very poor image of America, as all Americans are not like that.

Yes, only 30 or 40 percent self-identify as barking mad Trump-regardless stalwarts.
It's one thing I find ironic about America's so-called democracy - that in their system a clear minority of people with uneducated, anti-social and/or extremist views can cause a psychologically unfit candidate to be elected against the will of the majority.

True, our system is subject to manipulation by the politically savvy, astute enough to focus their anti-establishment rhetoric in the swing regions where a few votes can and did turn a very close election. True, as well, that many in the Trump base have only a basic education, and entertain extremist anti-egalitarian views, but they are not the people who elected Trump. The people who elected Trump are the same people who voted the UK out of the European Economic Union, the same people who are on the verge of abandoning German chancellor Merkel. These people are mainstream conservative voters, many well educated and successful, but also persons who are fearful that the culture and values that support their path to prosperity is being eroded and undermined while the government does nothing. They are voting their fear.

American Democracy is far from perfect. In deed, our election process was flawed from the beginning. We have been expanding the franchise for over 200 hundred years and improving equity among voters, as well. Trump's victory shown a bright light on the flaws his campaign exploited. History suggests that his victory will hasten the process of correcting the remaining defects.
